Just a month old, this video by an American called Hagerty talks about the development of the Lotus Carlton. Entertaining!  :y

Back in 1990 377 BHP from a Vauxhall was seen as demonic. The LC is still a quick car by the standards of 2023. :y

These days 600 plus BHP from super saloons is common. My old Jag had 510 BHP as stock and close to 600 BHP after a trip to Viezu. :y

Used to be a white one round this way a few years back belonged to a lorry driver, I often wondered how he could afford it, then I found out that he was involved a drug smuggling operation which answered my curiosity, if my memory serves me right he got around 12 years.

There used to be a white GSi around here in the day .... apparently it had been turbo'd  :-\ The last time I saw it, it was chucking loads of black smoke out of the back as it was being driven into the main Vauxhall dealers!  ::)

We have 114 registered with us on ABS.There are many owners who dont want to be involved with a club still about. 284 Carltons and 666 Omegas built total. They make up the biggest percentage of our membersYes, some are Omega,s, lefthand drive, but just on 100 are carltons. 3 LHD eventually got out to the US, one made it to OZ, another in Malaysia. Swiss versions were sold without the boot spoiler and smaller injectors for the Swiss emmisions rules. An awful lot in the Scandi counties as they are speed mad up there

Very interesting  :)
Just looked on howmanyleft

total all carltons 2022 Q3 = 964 SORN + 207 taxed = 1171 (all models including LCs)
LCs SORN = 126 and 56 taxed = 182 LCs

Vauxhall Omega (all variants ) 2022 Q3 = 3566 SORN  :o
Vauxhall Omega (all variants ) 2022 Q3 = 1545 taxed
difference from 2021 Q3 to 2022 Q3 = 476 scrapped in 1 year

Whilst it was probably a replica, it is possible it was genuine. Whilst all left the factory in Imperial/Empire Green, several have been repainted. There is/was a silver one owned by the MD of BP (or some similar oil company) and I've seen photos of a couple of German ones in yellow and pale blue which appeared genuine. Joe Ellis (of this parish) car Agememnon is white, but I don't think he'd call himself a lorryist. And there is/was one in Fareham that was covered in a Union Flag Vynyl wrap.
