Bought another
« on: 24 May 2023, 15:24:37 »

I’ve not yet quite finished the 2.6 project …. And now I’ve bought another Omega!

A 2003, 3.2 V6 came up on Facebook marketplace. Only a few miles from me.

Owner seems a very genuine guy. He said “the water pump pulley broke, I replaced the pulley and unit, but checked the cambelt and it had slipped / sheared teeth or similar.

Plan is to attempt a fix. Will do head-off work if needs be although it’s slow progress with my back. It’s had a lot of work including new sills for last MOT.

Will be making every effort to get it running again, would be criminal to break a 3.2 if it can be fixed.

£500. Can’t loose and will enjoy the summer tinkering now the 2.6 is almost done.

I’ll have to sell one of them in due course. Can’t keep two. Tempted to keep the 2.6, it’s not so good paint wise, but mechanically I’ve replaced everything imaginable under the Bonnet!

well done  :)

It's always nice to have a spare  :D

a good price  :y The cats and pre cats if genuine had a scrap value of £350 a year ago (when I had my cats stolen  >:()
It's a year ago this week clicky

as the cam belt doesn't drive the water pump on a V6 , perhaps it didn't have antifreeze and someone tried to start it frozen  :-\

I paid £560 for my 3.2, 6 years ago. Bargain.
Then spent about 3 grand over the next couple of years getting it just how I wanted it.  ;D

all cars need parts, tyres, brakes, oil etc

if you've had it 6 years , 3 grand is £500 a year  :)

had you brought a brand new car 6 years ago , you'd have lost 10+ grand in depreciation  :o

as it stands , your Omega would sell for more than you paid 6 years ago  ;)

My missus favourite cars from the past are her mini metro & her Fiat Panda I hated them both with a vengeance, she'd still be more than happy with a Metro now.

My missus had a Metro when I met her. A posh one, Vanden Plas.

I quite liked it, as it was more comfortable than most cheap roller skates, and was exceedingly thrashable.  In fact, it was called The Thrashmobile.

Anyone remember the beauty that was the upmarket All-aggro Vanden Plas.

Oh dear.... >:D >:D 8)
