Project sodding MoT
« on: 13 March 2007, 08:13:53 »

Wifes 2.5CDX auto Estate MoT tomorrow. So, this morning I have cancelled all my lessons just to crawl about messing with heatshields, rear disks, shoes, handbrake cable. Then mix and match wheels from my donor project for now.

Then tomorrow afternoon, it is off to the sodding dentist MoT bloke to grovel once again.

Well, handbrake done - for now. Dismantled (a bit) cleaned ( a bit more) roughed up the shoes, which were like glass and then adjusted and reassembled. Tightened up slack as it had never been done before by the look of things and now have reduced it from 1,374 clicks to about 4. It works - barely. Hope it is good enough. They are crap at the best of times, but this is on the bad side of crap.

Tyres swapped over for the best of the rest and now the wiffy has gone for a spin before giving it the buble bath treatment.

Oh well, we'll see tomorrow. Even though I know the bastard MoT tester, I still hate this every year.

You should be fine mate, i have passed MOT before with no wear material on the shoe just with the rusty metal bit.

As long as it has 16% efficiency or greater it will be fine.
I am sure it will pass then we can get the job done properly at the weekend.

I'll and that to my list then. Lever's touching the armrest before any useful braking occurs.

I'm ashamed to say I drove off with it on when I was looking for MaxV6's house the other week.

Are you sure mate? Will we have time after that gearbox change, seat change, wheel change and airbag resetting? Plus, I think you need some more T-cut on your Estate! ;)
