Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust for 2.2 petrol manual saloon
« on: 03 January 2016, 00:58:10 »
Sorry to hijack this thread but saw your links re E.T.S and had a look. Very reasonable. Does anybody know whether a rear box from a 3.0/3.2 would fit a 2.2 petrol saloon using standard 2.2 centre sections?

I would check the easy things first, like the rear shocks to make sure one hasn't failed, or that a pigtail hasn't broken off one of the rear springs.

Please excuse my ignorance but 'pigtail'? Is that the last part of the coil spring that you mean where it reduces in size to a smaller coil?

Omega General Help / rear end rattle/knock.

Are there any common faults re the rear end suspension set up on these cars? I have a rattle or light knock from the back whilst driving, sounds like a bush of some kind.

Hi, as the title says, anything planned for this area? Would like to try to get involved more and find out more about the Omega by see the cars in the flesh/metal as it were. Lol.

I'll have to ask and then take it from there. I have seen the required panels for sale on eBay for £20 each but need to travel to collect them and don't have the required vehicle to collect them with. Might ask how much a courier would charge though.

Nice looking car appears to have been well kept. From a personal point of view I would say that all Omegas look better with a boot spoiler 8)Plenty of help to be had on here.Sounds like an afterthought but isn't meant to be,sorry to hear of your dads health problems.

Thanks fella, to be honest it wasn't a surprise and we had been expecting it for a while but he took it quite badly when it happened. I'm glad I got the car though for both sentimental value and that I've always liked the Omega. Sadly though due to being let down by someone I trusted to do some work on the car I now have to find a replacement bonnet and n/s/f door in the same colour. Also I need to work out how to fix the bonnet release lever from inside the car as it's hanging off.

Hi all, this is my 51 plate, petrol 2.2CD. Was my Dad's but he's had his licence revoked Sue to I'll health so I inherited it so to speak. I'm hoping to do some mild mods to it such as cruise control, leather interior, dab double din stereo, sportier suspension, Elite wheels, stainless exhaust and a boot spoiler. Hopefully I'll find out loads about these cars on here and meet up with like minded owners.
First things first though, need to fix the bonnet release handle back on. No idea how to do it yet though. Lol.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Poor Reception.
« on: 02 February 2015, 09:19:21 »
Sorry to hijack this thread but I have just aquired my first Omega and although I have a good radio reception, as soon as I put on the heated rear screen it goes completely. There is a stubby mounted aerial on the roof at the back, any ideas on what would be causing the interference?

Never heard of Cataclean????

Ok well the car is going to mates tomorrow so after he's gone through it we'll hopefully have more of an idea. Incidently I've been driving around in it today and it hasn't come on once but admittedly I have stuck some fuel in it as the tank was lower than I thought. £25 worth of super unleaded.

Thanks guys for the advice, fingers crossed it gets all sorted easily.
How far is your mates place  ;D ;D

Lol not that far but hate being that low.

I know it's not the emissions light as I had that with my Vectra, 3 years I had that car and for 3 years I've had a problem with the emissions. Could not get to the bottom of it. Hope this is an easy fix, can't be going through that again.

Thanks Steve, wish I had one. Hoping mate can sort it out for me later in the week as he has the equipment,  was hoping someone might know of a common fault.

Omega General Help / car with spanner symbol
« on: 31 January 2015, 22:47:35 »
Ok so I've picked up my new Omega 2.2 and I was aware of the cat blowing. What I wasn't aware of was that after 5 minutes of driving the car with a spanner through it comes on. Car drives fine, picks up fine. Anybody got any ideas please?
