Just been out and checked on my 1998 2.5 Elite and yes I have a traction control (TC) button in that position. :)

I recall when looking at Omega's to buy many years ago that some had a large TC button (and a couple of blanking plates) to the left of the radio.

I had a little cubby hole in that position and later added a sat nav screen.

I also remember that some early elites had rear door glass demisters built into the rear doors. The switch may have been in that position. This option was later deleted. Certainly not on my 98 model.

Hope this helps.

3.0l 1998/9 Elites have TC button there, due to the CARiN display being in where the TC button used to sit. Eventually, it made it to that position for other trim levels on MFL

Not on a 97 Elite. 94/95 Elites would have a demister button there

You DO have traction control, your car is a V6, however it looks like the TC switch has been moved. Have you a cubby hole next to the radio?
Besides the TC button is there to turn your traction control OFF  ;)

Others will confirm ................. I've not taken enough notice of cars earlier than mine, but it's possible that the sat nav didn't get fitted at the factory. Remove the sat-nav screen & look for the large TC button  :-\ :-\ :-\
I assume that your car is NOT 'mini facelift' ie no audio controls on the steering wheel & solid headrest  :-\

I would guess so. The plugs for the switches are locked in place on the back of the centre 'console' Pretty sure the blank will just flick out.

Ok , i think the scrappy has one ....no warning lights have ever popped up on the dash . Another trip to my second home breaker heaven ...think ill just tow the breaker back for complete spares  :P

. ....no warning lights have ever popped up on the dash . .....

Bury the throttle from a standing start on a slippery surface, the orange TC light should flash while the lack of traction is being dealt with.  ;)

THE original blank or AN original blank? It's the same blank as an estate has at the other end of your switches where your rear blind is, and the same blank as a car with heated seats might have.  ;)

I'm no expert but i  may be able to help here. Eatmydust has a 3.0 litre mini fl with TC which is on all the time and no button to switch it off.The 2.5 have a switchable TC with a button where the blank button is on a 3.0. As mentioned in an  earlier reply the first couple of years of Omega productions had a  side window demist button in this space. Later cars had a blank switch as the  side window demist was deleted option.  Pulling out the blank button and putting a TC button there will not enable the TC to be switched on or off on a 3.0 litre car. It will also not light up either, i know, been there, tried that. Hope this helps and makes sense.

thats the same as some veccys then, there is a way to turn off TC in that case, start car then turn off and start immediately,  do this in one motion so the engine doesnt actually stop this disables the TC does on the vecs (why you would want to i dont know)  to re-enable the same procedure  :y

The car will have TC, just no way to disable it. No problem, unless he wants to go drifting. Or it works as badly as Andy B's ;D

I suspect its actually a 98 model, and the wires are slung behind the satnav screen, and need moving up to the blanking plate...

Spookily, just had the reply about 2mins after posting above.  It is a 1998 model. Problem solved ;)

No need to worry then , wont be going drifting .

Only original concern was why i hadnt got the dash TC button as im sure it was on my 99 elite so all is confirmed that i have TC but no switch .

Thats that then ......thanks all we got there in the end  ;D     :y

Switch can be retro fitted to that blank...  ...just moving some wires about. Bit fiddly though.

But TC is on by default, with no switch, you can't turn it off.

Dont think i'll be fiddling with the wires , although i may still fit the switch in place of the blank plate  ;)

Why wouldn't Vx have fitted the TC switch like any other mini-facelift?

Early 1998 MFL had switch to left of radio. So the 3l with Satnav which had the screen there instead just had the wires taped up behind. Later, they had some sense and made its new location to left of right heated seat switch

Today i put my foot to the floor , slighlty damp conditions and the car lit up the back wheels for a milisecond and the traction control light on the dash lit up and put a stop to all that spinning so i can now confirm the TC is well and working ...just cant turn it off  :y

Just so you know, MFL switches are different to earlier PFL switches.  Vectra-B switches are like the earlier PFL ones.
