as said, fm adapter or cassette adapter is you're only easy option with factory radios. I know some other car radios you can get special adpaters so your gayPod acts like a cd changer, but not seem one that works with Omega headunits.

i get what you mean - used to have a gsi astra which when i brought the guy had modded the standard unit somehow - so thought i would ask.

I seem to recall the audio amp in the units has a spare stereo input, but that would require some skills in electronics

Though I doubt any will be perfect, there are good and bad fm modulators.

What year car do you have and what stereo is in it? If its a pre-facelift then another option might be a Dension ICE Link kit. It allows you to hook into the stereo using the CD changer input so that you can change tracks etc from the head unit or steering controls.

Obviously if you have a CD changer, you would lose the use of it but I had the ICE Link on my S reg and was very happy with it.

The Dension kit will only work with a very limited number of VX head units, but certainly worth checking out compatability

No, Not Dension compatable

And as you have BOSE, the FM modulator route is the only viable option, as you can`t really use the Parrot phone kit trick either.

Yep, Dave's FM modulator is the best bet. A few forum members have them and they are highly recommended.

Hmmm, having just travelled Lancashire -> Cornwall and back, I'm beginning to truely hate FM transmitters as a solution - even reasonable quality ones have trouble as you travel from region to region to find a spare frequency.

For a CCR2006 / Bose system (i.e. facelift Elite), anyone tried digging in the unit?, let's face it - no-one (waiting for flames) is going to use the tape player - any chance of finding a line-level feed into the unit by unhooking the tape-player pre-amp feed. I've not looked inside it yet, but now I'm closer to my tools I'm getting awfully tempted to try.

Thats a sure sign of the poor quality ones !! Why not try one of mine, no complaints from any that we have sold ! And loads on this forum seem to rate them quite highly when used with the Omega

My issue is with having to tune to an unused frequency in one location, then travel to another location where a local station interferes. The transmitter I'm using at the moment provides perfectly good audio whilst there's no contention with local stations.

What I want is something that I don't have to stop (or start lane wandering

) whilst trying to dial in a new (uncontested) frequency.

Or... are you saying that your unit will do this, and reliably blast through any local radio station (not convinced that this would be possible, tbh)

If the unit works as I want (i.e. set-up once, and forget) then I might be interested, however, I cannot see it being as robust as a wired solution.

Anyone attest to the AM-88T not requiring any fiddling once set, even when driving from region to region?

These will never be as good as a wired solution, they are never going to be 100% perfect, but are the best that you are going to get

As with any modulator, you need to select your frequncy carefully to avoid any interference from other sources - (thats why they have settings!) and once correctly set, yes, it should work correctly.

If you are driving from one area to another, then yes, you will need to find the frequncy that suits you.

That said, I have never ever had to re-adjust any of these that I have fitted myself, and I usually try to locate the modulator near to the head unit in the centre console somewhere.
