Hi All,
We've made some progress with fitting rear subframe bushes and rear trailing arm outer camber bushes to our '51 reg Omega 2.2CDX.
I've added the Omega to our vehicle select drop-down so the car now exists within Pedders :)
We managed to get the Omega in yesterday and fitted the camber bushes and subframe bushes. I'll be doing a write up shortly.
We have just got more stock of the 5803s offset camber bushes in stock but are waiting for more of the EP1145 subframe bushes to arrive from Australia. If you do want them before the next shipment arrives, we can get them within 14 days and you don't pay for the shipping from Aus, we pick up the tab for that.

Pm'd Mike today, suggesting a group buy. Try and get the price down a bit if possible. See if we can't shift a few of these. I know I'm interested, and if the price was a bit lower I would think some of you would be too.
I mentioned our failed attempt to get powerflex to make some for us, and their "projected" possible price of about £80 to him. Also that from memory we had about 30 members showing interest. Or there abouts.
For transparency i can post his reply if he gives me permission, but for now, I can say he has said he will speak to his managers and let us know by Monday.
Mean time could I ask you 'orrible lot if your interested...? :y
Now obviously we don't know the pricing yet, or even if they will accept a reduction at all. I presume this will depend in numbers. But he did say if we wait 6 to 8 weeks the price could be lower still, based on 30 pairs sold.
So, who's interested...? If you are please add your name and country for postage of not uk. If not please say why.
Ps, this will depend on costs paid up front to Pedders. So please don't mess about.
Should add, this is for rear subframe bushes, initially. As I know these will get more interest.

I would add, ex taxi al has these fitted, and from the passenger seat, the improvement in ride and accuracy is marked.

At risk of repeating myself, again ::) these bushes are worth every penny :y
They are a piece of cake to fit, they last indefinitely and transform the level of control at the rear suspension. They are compliant, not firming up the ride too much, but they do really locate the rear wheels :y
Don't forget, with poly bushes, they don't wear out, so no more changing crappy pattern parts every five minutes :y
If I had a brand new Omega I would fit these to it straight away :y

I was I bit tired after the 4th(?) set. Being honest.
These will need the pad between subframe and chassis replacing with the supplied poly version. So the subframe will need to be dropped a fraction to allow access.
Re alignement of the bolt holes can be tricky, but it's all doable.

All we're saying to Mr Pedders is, we are interested in owning Poly rear donuts for the omega.
The rest is up to Mr Pedders to convince us to buy. He may help on cost, he may not. I dont think there has been much interest so far from members here so fingers crossed.
Mike says he should have news on Monday. Let's see how things go.
Mean while, please register genuine interest, price depending. :)

She's running K-mac poly bushes as is my Gsi Carlton. :y Believe it or not VX changed the design slightly between the Carlton and Omega. It's to do with the position and length of the inner metal tube on the bush.

Given that the K mac bushes are a direct alternative to the Pedders bushes, how do they compare price wise?

Carltons don't have the top bush as standard. K-mac do. As for price I can't help there. Both my sets came from ABS owners who had brought them and never used them. Think I gave 80 and 50 but as i said they weren't technically new but unused. Also there's two different types from K-Mac. One has some voids in the rubber (look like drill holes) to soften them up and the others are solid. Both my sets have the voids which are better for road use. Some of the Senny boys took the solid bushes back out complaining of the stiffness.

The standard top pad on the Omega is 'waffer' thin, hence the Carlton bushes working out :y
The Pedders bush kit contains both the main bush assembly and the top pad, the bushes have a ring of small, shallow voids allowing some give :y
The Kmac bushes that were discussed in the thread over in Car Chat, were looking at being nearly £190 by the time they got here, and that was with a bulk discount of about 25% :-\

My K-Mac bushes were £112 from the ABS group buy so the Pedders bushes are comparable in price.
As for fitting the Omega bushes to the LC it`s a no go, although they physically fit, the Carlton bush is flush on the bottom where as the Omega bush the inner part is about 20mm lower and the top hats won`t do anything to help. The triangular plates accommodate the difference. Somewhere I have a picture showing the standard Carlton bush against a K-Mac Carlton bush and an Omega bush, if I can find it I`ll post it.

The ABS buy must have been about four or five years ago, before the recession started and I think the exchange rate would have been much better.
Only mentioned about the core difference on these because you said they`d work a treat on the LC ;)
I really hope this happens cos the difference is well worth the cost :y

Chrisgixer tried Carlton bushes on the Omega with very short lived limited success due to the bushes working out as there was nothing to stop the subframe riding up. :'( These bushes completely eliminate that problem, hence my suggestion that a Carlton/Senator may benefit from having them fitted :y

I'm happy to offer the EP1145 bushes for £80.00 a set if an order of 25 sets is placed.
Postage will be £4.99 per set if they are all sent to different places and postage outside of mainland UK will be more. Please add your postage location if it's outside of mainland UK.
Obviously we need to ship them over and payment will be required in advance.
Shipping will take 8-12 weeks after order. We will do our best to get them through quicker but you need to know this up front.
No fitting, sorry. We don't offer this.
Alignment is very important and we recommend a 4 wheel alignment is carried out after having changed the bushes.
You can change these bushes without having to remove the subframe from the car but you will have to drop the front of the subframe down 6-8 inches. This is a job which is possible to do on your drive if you're handy with spanners.

Speaking for myself, that sounds like a good deal, hopefully 24+ other perople will agree :y
When fitting these bushes, I found that the natural drop of the subframe once the front bolts are removed is more than adequate to fit the top pad. About 1" iirc. Backing the car on to ramps or raising the self levelling if fitted gives enough working height to fit them.

Might be teaching egg sucking here but...
If any bank customer has Internet banking set up with passwords etc, they can access thier accounts from anywhere in the world that has Internet access. So if needed, it shouldn't be a problem, assuming a Hotel with web access or an internet cafe is nearby.

OK, the potential plan is:
Those who want these pay the cost plus P&P directly into one of OOF's bank accounts (rather than an individual's account). We are unable to accept Paypal for this, due to charges (which would be very significant). If you cannot do such a transfer, this can normally be done by visiting your bank.
The order would then be placed with Pedders.
Delivery would start to take place some 8-12 weeks later.
How does that sound?

That was my first thought LD, but as we discussed in the other thread, is everyone going to be happy giving a fair lump of cash to a member which, in most cases, they have never met.
Put bluntly...Theres an oppertunity to leg it with everyone's cash, in short. It adds up to a fair bit.

I assumed at the start that we would individually pay Pedders from our cards via telephone and be ticked off on a 'paid' list on a separate thread on here or something similar. :-\
I pay my Bank cards online but have never done a Bank Transfer. Am I able to pay either Pedders or Bank of OOF from a card without using Bank Transfer as I would rather use a card? I tend to use a card as it offers a bit of protection against goods not arriving.
I'm near enough to Pedders to pay them personally but I assume it will get confusing with them receiving individual payments. :-\
Should I be requesting payment details from TB (privately obviously) or are further instructions going to be posted on here. :-\

From Pedders' point of view, he needs to know that the full 25 or more sets will actually be ordered, and part of the reason for allowing a discount is, I imagine, that he will not incur the overhead of processing 25 individual card payments over the phone and posting out 25 individual orders as they drip through.
How will we guarantee to him that all 25 orders will actually materialise? I'd put money on a few falling by the wayside.
This is the nature of bulk buys, in my experience of having participated in a few on other forums. We have to be a little flexible in how we arrange payment and delivery in return for getting a discount.
Any other means of getting cash into the OOF coffers or directly to Pedders will have a cost associated with it and that would have to be reflected in the price.

It was a question asking whether it would be acceptable in principle. The details of how we're putting it into practice are being worked out. :y

Yes as Kev says, earlier part of the the thread was merely establishing interest, and if Pedders could assist.
We now have enough interest, and Pedders uk have confirmed the price achievable based on those numbers is £80.
We're mid way through the process, and again, as Kev says, trying to sort the best, easiest, and cost effective way of gathering funds.
I have pm'd Pedders to confirm postage and or pick up options. Plus we have a non uk member. Then we know how much to pay.

At a guess/suggestion, and not trying to pre-empt any behind the scenes planning ... those of us who can .. BACS transfer to OOF, those who can't ... cheque to OOF ??? Once funds are in OOF pays Pedders
Only downside to that is we are asking Jamie to do a load more work on our behalf, and he does a great deal already........
..... and before any raises the idea that it leaves them open to risk, Jamie has been running the shop without any problems for some years and is one of the most honest guys I have ever met. :y :y

Just awaiting details back from chrisgixer, who himself is waiting on Pedders. Its just the final points that need clarifying.
In a nutshell, the money will get paid into a central club bank account. We don't want to go via the Paypal route as somebody will have to pick up the charges. Likewise with card payments, somebody have to pay the fees.
This account, being a club account, doesn't belong to an individual, it belongs to OOF. So if I throw my toys out of the pram get knocked down by a bus tomorrow, the other 3 owners can carry on as normal.
Once all money is collected, the order can be submitted to Pedders, with delivery following about 8-12 weeks later (is that right chrisgixer?)
I hope that clarifies, and settles any doubts about "who" is holding the money until the order is submitted. Any queries, just say :)

Obviously, anyone could just show up saying "I've bought some bushes through OOF and paid...!"
An individual code will be given out to each of you when your payment has been paid through to Chris and that code will be required to collect your order.
Postage as before, £4.99 for postage within the UK.
Norway postage is £32.00
Spain postage is £24.00

TheBoy lives in Brackley, and I can pick up from here in Reading. There's options there.
Would that work do you think? I presume the codes could be used that way too? :)

Yes codes can be used in the same way, every set of bushes will have a code (that can only be used once) so that we can make sure where each set has gone.

To add to the above, all postage rates outside of UK but within Europe are plus VAT and Norway has a customs charge of £25 on top.

Spain £80 plus £24 postage = £104 total
Norway £80 plus £38.40 postage + £25.00 customs charge = £143.40 total
Unfortunately we don't have any control over customs or postage charges, this is what we get charged.

Re addresses please hold up on those until we have at least 25 paid members. Then we will need to involve Pedders with postage and codes. I don't want to to pester them until we have met the minimum 25 orders. Indeed we don't have a deal at all until we have 25 paid. Pedders will need the addresses anyway, so there's no need to involve the forum with that side of things.
I guess it's wise to keep as much personal info as private as possible. So we'll keep it to forum communication methods via pm and this thread. That way I or anyone else can't play silly buggers with home or email addresses... Aye Andy. ;)

Brilliant job the pair of you are doing... May I suggest that once confirmation of payment is made by Jamie you use a different colour font in your listing ?? It will make it easier to see who has still not paid rather than just the text at the end of their line ... sort of thing :)

I am writing this extremely embarrassed. My daily driver has just got me over 300 quid to repair. I just do not have the money for the bushes with the run up to Xmas as well. So very publicly and with deep sorrow for the letting down the people who have worked so hard to get this done I must withdraw.

A word on addresses, and the next stages of the process.
Pedders will be producing individual codes, based on the list showing members as paid, paid members will receive One security code per set of bushes. Only pedders and you will know this code. You can then send the code(s) to whoever is nominated(tbc) to pick up from pedders. DO NOT REVEAL YOUR CODE TO ANYONE ELSE. :y
Once you have received a code via pm from pedders, please then reply to PEDDERS with your delivery address if you have paid for postage. Nobody on OOF is involved with postage so this can stay between pedders and postage paid members.

As this order is part of a group buy, you will be required to present your security code before your bushes will be released from Pedders. Please keep your security code to yourself and do not share it with anyone else.
The only exception to this is if your particular set is to be collected by TheBoy locally from Pedders. TheBoy will be asked for a list of the security numbers for bushes, again Pedders will not release any bushes without the correct security code.
Once the group order has been placed, we will keep the forum updated with a ETA for the bushes.
You will be required to contact Pedders with your security code and full name and address before any bushes are sent out.

there are sound reasons explained earlier in the thread as to why the payments procedure is so Zippy.
You'll also see that a member has paid via telephone banking. No pc's involved. ;)

Just a quick thanks to Joff for keeping us informed, looks like he may have to drop out of the deal altogether. I'll leave his name up for now, in the hope circumstances change. But it's not looking good for him at least.
A note to all not paid do far, if funds are looking thin on the ground and you need to drop out, please let us know ASAP.
We might find a few members feeling a little let down, being made to wait, possibly for no reason if members drop out.

I'm happy to offer the EP1145 bushes for £80.00 a set if an order of 25 sets is placed.
Postage will be £4.99 per set if they are all sent to different places and postage outside of mainland UK will be more. Please add your postage location if it's outside of mainland UK.
Obviously we need to ship them over and payment will be required in advance.
Shipping will take 8-12 weeks after order. We will do our best to get them through quicker but you need to know this up front.
No fitting, sorry. We don't offer this.
Alignment is very important and we recommend a 4 wheel alignment is carried out after having changed the bushes.
You can change these bushes without having to remove the subframe from the car but you will have to drop the front of the subframe down 6-8 inches. This is a job which is possible to do on your drive if you're handy with spanners.

mmmmwellll, ...depends on the condition of the bush coming out. If in reasonable nick, the instructions will work fine. Happy days.
If in poor condition, the centre will press out fine, but leave the main body stuck in the subframe/cross member. Then... It's dig it out with a stick time.

Either way, the only effort required with these is the removal of the old bush which is either a piece of pee or a complete mare. The poly ones are obviously an interferance fit, but like the front ones don't need a vice or even significant effort to fit :y

Good news!
I'm happy to offer the EP1145 bushes for £80.00 a set if an order of 25 sets is placed.
Postage will be £4.99 per set if they are all sent to different places and postage outside of mainland UK will be more. Please add your postage location if it's outside of mainland UK.
Obviously we need to ship them over and payment will be required in advance.
Shipping will take 8-12 weeks after order. We will do our best to get them through quicker but you need to know this up front.
No fitting, sorry. We don't offer this.
Alignment is very important and we recommend a 4 wheel alignment is carried out after having changed the bushes.
You can change these bushes without having to remove the subframe from the car but you will have to drop the front of the subframe down 6-8 inches. This is a job which is possible to do on your drive if you're handy with spanners.

ahh now i know what you ment, as of 4am im off 2 north yorkshire to do a job, when i get back in the afternoon i will walk into my local HSBC Bank & pay in £85 in cash to the account name & numbers you sent me if that helps?? As my omega is down as a company car my farther said he would pay for the bushes from his company account but as time is short & he is not here, i dont want to piss people off i will find a HSBC Bank somewhere & pay it in. Sorry for the delay. Plus i didnt notice that bit at bottom of page saying cut off date 6th dec.

another question for Mike
i see from the monkfish/pedders web site that pedders do an airbag system for rearsprings.
could this fit the rear monoblock spring design on the omega?
as you may not know, the Elite model omega has self levelling suspension activated via an air pump to air bladders on the rear shocks. These shocks(£150-170 on trade club) are great for levelling the car, but the ride is extremely restricted, almost completely loosing its independent nature giving what feels like a solid rear axle feel, esp when firmer springs are fitted. Not good.
i have binned my sl shocks for bilstein b4 on the rear, which are greatly improved for normal use, but load carrying suffers, lowering the rear, increasing camber and destroying tyres on the inside edge.
it would be nice if an air bag system could be activated, either permanently or only when load carrying, to keeep the camber and tyre wear sensible.
whats the odds? :)

another question for Mike
i see from the monkfish/pedders web site that pedders do an airbag system for rearsprings.
could this fit the rear monoblock spring design on the omega?
as you may not know, the Elite model omega has self levelling suspension activated via an air pump to air bladders on the rear shocks. These shocks(£150-170 on trade club) are great for levelling the car, but the ride is extremely restricted, almost completely loosing its independent nature giving what feels like a solid rear axle feel, esp when firmer springs are fitted. Not good.
i have binned my sl shocks for bilstein b4 on the rear, which are greatly improved for normal use, but load carrying suffers, lowering the rear, increasing camber and destroying tyres on the inside edge.
it would be nice if an air bag system could be activated, either permanently or only when load carrying, to keeep the camber and tyre wear sensible.
whats the odds? :)

I will add to this, we have not tried to fit one of these to an Omega. While the vehicles that it's designed to fit appear to use identical suspension parts, we cannot say for definite that it will fit perfectly until we've tried it.
We would be interested in fitting a kit if someone is interested in stepping up and paying.

I don't need them yet but am considering them too... Do you do a kit that is suitable for the Estate?
Also, are they adjusted on a Shraeder valve of is there potential to plumb them into the existing self levelling system?

The only kits we do are the ones listed above, there isn't a kit listed for estate or saloon.
They're not advertised for Omegas.
The kit consists of two air bars that sit inside the springs and have an air-line coming off which you inflate as you would a tyre to your preferred amount.

Hi Mike, sorry to bombard you, but we have been looking at someting like this as a solution for a while.
ok first question, my car rides fine with no load, can the bags be deflated completely when not in use, and not interfere with the springs or ride, or be pinched by the springs if the bags are de flated.
i think i know what you'll say, that the bags will have air in them constantly to a degree, i'd just like to ask anyway, as to their normal designed use.
secondly, obvious one is price. if they where cheaper than the oe sl shocks, or offered a performace advantage then we'd be on to something.
the problem with the oe set up is the shock air bladders chafe when not inflated, i'm hoping these bags can be "turned off" completely with no load in the car. to allow the current ride to stay un fiddled with, if you see what i mean.
mine is a saloon, obviously estate owners should find a bigger benefit i would think?

It's quite alright.. I'm here for questions ;)
The air bags are a smaller diameter than the spring so you should be able to deflate almost completely so that they don't interfere. You can't have it doing nothing obviously as you state, they'll chafe. One way to look at it would be to fit a shorter spring and always have the air bag assisting to some extent.

For those of us who, bravely or foolhardily, decide to fit these ourselves .... will you be offering a "mobile assistance / rescue service" for when we have the car on stands, the old one half way out ... and are completely stuck... or the subframe moves after the old one is out and before the new one goes back in .... both scenarios I saw played out at different times, and you were the only one to fix them !!

While there's no oppertunity to try before buying, there's non problem re fitting the old ones or my original febi ones if your not happy.
While there is slight increase in harshness, the benefits out weigh that by some way IMO. There's no more harshness than with poly fronts for instance. ...and in the course of re fitting the rubber pads, as a half way house, then refitting the poly pads, I am personally completely unaware of any down side now.
IMO, fit them. Get used to them and the tighter rear end, then decide. It's really no biggy to re do the job. :y

Can i ask did we sort out the what was happening with the ones that had paid double postage. Also didn't you have something on the go with another bush carnt remember if it was fronts or rears......

Front wishbone vertical bush experiments are not going well unfortunately, if that's what you mean gt? Stability on the brakes being an issue. Although, a firmer bush giving more control does show promise. Under most other circumstances anyway.
If only we could find someone to make it for us. ::) ;D
Main problem cross referencing with other models seems to be, that no other manufacturer that has a poly rearward wishbone bush in production uses a 14mm diameter bolt hole. They all seem to be 12mm max.
So we're scuppered there too. :(
If we are to achieve a working rearward/vertical bush, it will need to have a very firm poly material thickness of around 4mm surrounding a ball joint taking a 14mm bolt hole, with outer body diameter at 49mm within a depth of a 26mm wishbone, most other poly ball joint bushes are much deeper. (Iirc).... this has to articulate within a subframe frame gap of 46mm without fouling.
I don't think a ball joint is achievable within those dimensions and have enough material on a vertical plain to stop the wishbone/poly popping over the ball joint, sadly. The forces involved are massive.
Someone needs to come up with a new design specific to the omega. (Because most other poly ball joints currently in production have a deeper subframe gap to operate in) and we already know at least one poly bush manufacturer feels the omega doesn't have enough numbers to justify tooling costs.
It's a big ask, unfortunately. :(

They will certainly help, but it is still essential that your toe in settings are correct.
the bushes will take the rear camber back approx 3/4 degree.

I notice a lot of noise from the back end of my car after fitting the donuts - but I think it's probably a wheel bearing on it's way out rather than anything coinciding with the bushes.. maybe made more noticeable by the change but not directly caused by, obviously.

I'm ignoring it for now, to avoid all the fun of last time! ;D
The car does almost zero milage at this point (in fact it hadn't moved in so long before the MOT that the battery had gone flat again), and noisy wheel bearings aren't much of a problem on driveway ornaments.. ;D

I had a good deal of noise after fiddling with mine. As it was silent before bush fiddling, then noisy after, closer inspection showed they where not seated properly.
Which suggests checking the bushes first, before oppsing about with wheel bearings. As there might be some slight irritation if the bearing was changed, only for the noise to remain. ;D

The 2 sets fitted to mine have kept my arse under control, though something has go awol on the Bullet to make it feel like the bush has failed. However, bear in mind that I am comparing new poly to old, shagged GM ones...

I have had dome minor issues....
strictly speaking, the rear donuts don't actually fit correctly. I'm still unsure if it's the length of the metal bushing/spacer that's short or the diameter being smaller and allowing it disapear up into the body by x amount.
Result is knocking and clunking under heavy cornering followed by repeated episodes over bumps or on full lock turns. Loose rear end. Plus, I think, wheel bearing type noises if the bolt goes in too far before it tightens. But need to confirm. Presume the bolt is touching the chassis internally and resonating, but as sus need to confirm.
I have added a large washer to the bushing length which has sorted the noises and some of the slop. Plus re fitted the top rubber pad to take up the extra play introduced by the washer.
Time has been the main barrier of getting full answers.
All things area relative though, and the play/slop described is less than that encountered with oe. Certainly no worse.

Strange that, mine fitted perfectly and I`ve not had any issues with the rear end being loose apart from my suspected knackered diff mounts. I fitted the top hats and everything torqued up nicely, just went in as they should.

I think it depends on the position of the subframe. The springs tend to push the subframe rearward. As I understand it. So the holes never line up perfectly. With a thinner/shorter bushing there's less contact area with the body, which has a slightly recesed area around the bolt hole in the body. Iirc. :-\
I'm wondering if these things conspire to allow the bushing to slip, which would account for some of the noises, given only half of the circumference of the bushing tightens up on the body, going by the witness marks, with the other half over the hole so in contact with nothing. A hole that also has a lip surrounding it if memory serves.
Apply some side load and and that might allow the half clamped bush to slip down the lip.
The when re tightened, the bushing is more centred in the body hole, allowing the bushing into the centre of the hole when tightened. The bolt tightens further into the body above the captive nut, and I suspect, causes resonance. But can't be sure. Although there was certainly road noise at one point that isn't there now with the washer fitted.
Anyone think an LSD is relevant?
I'm thinking drive from both wheels would make the rear axle want to go straight on in a tight turn more than a normal diff. where the body is being pulled round by the front wheels, so puttng more twist/yaw(is that right?) on the subframe relative to the body.
Trouble is I'm knackered and my simple brain is struggling to work out the forces at play this evening. :(

Just to add I didn't mention. ....iirc the metal sleave/bushing on the polys is about 2mm thick. Where's as the oe rubber bushing is about 7mm. So has much more contact with the body.

Would the end of the insert be used to keep it honest, purely by its friction? But then what else keeps it in place :-\

The captive nut has loads of play in its location. (Which I also didn't mention) so while the bolt is tight in the insert/sleave/bush thingy with minimal play, when locating and all bolts are fitted but loose there is loads of play in the whole assembley. The nut, bolt, bush, subframe can all move quite a lot. The springs are, I think, what forces the hole lot rearward.
Bare with me there's a lot of tired thinking aloud here, but the play with bolts loose is more than the thickness of the polys metal insert. And the poly metal inserts can almost fit within the body hole that surrounds the captive nut. UNLESS it's off centre, which it normally is, due to the springs pushing rearward, so then clamps up on the side of the hole.
I'd better go to bed I think, that was bloody hard work. ;D

The sensation I'm getting is a bit like a flat OSR tyre on sweeping left handers. Not beyond the realms of possibility that I haven't broken another spring - weekend job if I can get the jack from the garage

Would taking a 1/4" of the threaded end of the bolt help :-\ in case it is tightening against the floor.
Also could the captive nut be welded in place so that it sits centrally :-\ perhaps with a washer if applicable...

Sensible head notwithstanding, could it be a surging effect of the fuel... the petrol tank being off centre to the right, and given Mrs TBs penchant for filling it up... :-\

No, don't think so. It does feel like oversteer when sweeping that way, but doesn't need any corrections.

The sinking feeling "might " be the insert sinking into the body hole. ...."might"
Any loud one off clonks? The type that resonate through the body and you can't pin point where it's come from...? Like somebody has hit the under side somewhere with a plastic mallet?
Ps, the fix is quite easy so it's no biggy. Just a big washer , and the top rubber pad which is a bit fiddly actually.

Yeah me to lol, but I`ve no reason to suspect the poly donuts being at fault, I had k-mac on the Senator and it tightened the rear end up nicely and they`re the same as the pedders bushes. I never liked the idea of a 14mm hole for a 12mm bolt but on the Senator it was necessary for tweaking the sub frame as it only had a single diff mount and it had slotted bolt holes for that reason but with the Omega having two diff mounts there's less scope for moving the subframe.
I wonder if it would help removing the springs and lining the holes up and then torquing everything up before refitting the springs.
The only thing I can say for certain is it was more wayward before I fitted the poly`s but I also have oil misting on the OSR damper just to compound matters :-\

Subframe needs to be off centre for the metal insert/bushing to be clear of the hole for the captive nut. The more it lines up, the more chance the inset can disapear into the hole. Afaict.
Mine seems to have been nearer the hole on fitting, so the insert had less body to clamp up on when tightened. Add a bit if side load and it's slipped, causing a clonk as I did so. With less severe knocks and noises since then.

Took for a blat earlier, and I think it's coming from the front weirdly. At speed it's like an intermittent tramline but only in corners. Wonder if idler failed, t'was lemforder (or was that TBE, can't remember)

Symptoms sound exactly like my failed rear front wishbone bush did, TBH.
Something "shifts" as you load up the suspension in a turn, feels exactly like the early onset of oversteer, but you can pile on more lock and the back end stays planted?

If you can't feel the initial pull on the sterring wheel then it's at the rear. BUT you need to be able to distinguish the pull from the correction you dial in to correct it.
If it's rear your correcting with out pulling.
If it's front you get the pull on the sterring wheel first.

Mk2 front vertical polys did that on mine when seriously pressing on through the twisties :-\

There was no pull on the steering when mine failed, just the "oversteering" sensation.

Kevin Wood - I was wondering if it could be the vertical ones, as I have had that sensation before. Its probably time, they've been in a year. But I'll attack the obvious faults first :)
