Interesting, not the norm to have the extra seat belts fitted, where are the seats?

Omega General Help / Re: Re-bushing wishbones?
« on: 06 February 2010, 18:39:20 »
Cheap 'wishbones £55 delivied off ebay'' seem to last 2 years (ie 2 MOT's) and 40,000 miles, very difficult to check what you are buying, Lemforder are good, but what identifies them in the open market !!

Omega General Help / Re: Best oil for 2.5 v6
« on: 06 February 2010, 17:39:06 »
Vauxhall (GM) 10/40 Semi with a Trade Card last week was 4 for 3 ie 4 x 5litre for £38.39 including vat.
That is 3 changes plus some for top-ups, if required, GM (canister) filters £1.67.
Works out at less than £15-00 per oil change, with good quality oil. (Trade Card £25 per year)

Your 'hooked', everything can be sorted on a Omega, with time, patience and the help of some very experienced people on this 'site' who have assisted me immensely over the years.
The Omega a very under rated GM model, worth looking after if you find a good one.
Good luck

Omega General Help / Re: Flickering Oil Light 2.2 DTi
« on: 05 February 2010, 22:05:14 »
Because as I said, on an incline the oil moves to the back of the sump away from the 'level' pick up, it was a 'tip' I was told by a GM engineer, sorted out the problem for over 20k.

I found the same problem on the 2.2 diesel Elite I had, inclines on motorways always caused the 'light' to flicker. Best cure, check oil 1 minute after switch off, check oil is at the max mark then add 1/4 litre of oil, it's something to do with the position of the 'oil level pickup'.

Omega General Help / Re: Tyre Size
« on: 02 February 2010, 17:57:19 »
2.5 Elite as standard have 16" alloys and a 15" steel spare, (GM cheap skates), so the size to go for is, as already said 225/55/16V (W for 3.0).
Mytyres are good as they give a performance rating, i've used Nangang  which lasted well (20K) also Hero Milanza.
Some types of Falker tyres are reported tobe good on Omega's, all from £220 a set of 4.

Omega General Help / Re: Speedo and revs not working
« on: 02 February 2010, 19:46:36 »
Hi Steve, has he moved the 'speedo dash' to do anything, ie replace bulbs, sounds like a bad connection to me, if so also check any fuses.

OR, put a thin blade (4mm) in and under the bottom of the magazine, twist it so the 'plastic pin' can be scene, then pull the magazine out.
Had problems with a number of them.

Omega General Help / Re: Starting problem - continues
« on: 02 February 2010, 18:21:49 »
This really 'buging' me, Glasgow and back yesterday, 600 miles, no faster than 75mph = 31mpg, never missed a beat.
But each time I had to start the car it was the second twist of the key that it started, once on 5 cylinders then cleared to 6.
Tick over is 600rpm and very steady (50p coin steady)
I think I will change the leads, any other thoughts ?

Problem started after 'new cam belt, water pump, new spark plug' were fitted. No issue with the work all excellent, but something was distrubed, but what ?
Always used to fired first turn of the key.
