I’ve a pair of Xenon headlights complete which a 1999 CDX would probably have.

Is yours a PFL omega ?

Thanks guys - will pop on and off as still like to keep up to date on things Omega.

Hard choice but hate to see them just sat there not been used - does them no good. If I had a heated garage/ indoor space free I would have kept it and lifted weight of wheels and kept it there but sadly I have not.

I will post on the for sale section what I have  :y

Well after some tough decisions I’ve decided to thin down my car collection.

One of which to go is my Omega MFL 1999 MV6 manual in Champagne (but it had the leather so looked good combo) with 58k miles 😔. Now sold to an enthusiastic younger chap. Just wasn’t using it and they need using, plus could see on horizon it would need more upkeep and paintwork.

Thanks for all help on forum over the years I’ve had - certainly learned a lot.

I’ve a lot of parts which I’ll have to put on eBay - mainly trim, door mirrors, boot lid and bonnet, MV6 boot spoiler and the infamous V6 coolant pipe (that welds itself to the thermostat housing and bracket that usually snaps).

I’ve less than 250 points on here at 241 so can’t list stuff here.

I’ll keep bobbing on forum as still love these cars.

Omega General Help / Re: Horn not working - 1999 MV6
« on: 27 August 2023, 22:58:24 »
Thanks for replies.

I’ll check steering wheel contacts and clock spring

I’ve a feeling that both horns wouldn’t pack in simultaneously so must be current supply.

Wiring to horns could also be issue but as I say both going at once and neither horn buttons are working leads me to think horn button electrics  🤔

Hi

No neither buttons work nor any horn

Easy enough to remove airbag etc the Tex screws so I’ll try that.

No power at relay so guess buttons not creating a circuit.

Omega General Help / Horn not working - 1999 MV6
« on: 26 August 2023, 18:44:35 »
Evening

Guess there’s a solution somewhere before.

Neither horn button works on my 1999 MV6.

It used to but not anymore. ???

Changed the relay twice for 2 spares, fuse fine + swapped it just in case, tapped horns under car a few times to jiggle them into life and felt around the wiring which all seems secure under NS front.

Only thing I’ve not done is remove airbag and check condition of button electrics - but neither work.

Also the there’s no vibration/click from relay if you hold it whilst depressing horn buttons.

Other than check the button electrics is there anything else ?

I’ve not removed horns nor tried a direct feed to them but on my radar to do unless something daft

Omega General Help / Re: 3.0 MV6 rough running after laid up
« on: 22 June 2023, 14:08:52 »
Well didn’t get my 100 mile trip in the end as rear tyres are due to be replaced and the current ones are showing age cracking despite good tread so didn’t fancy throwing it down the A1 at speed.

However I have run it a lot drier of fuel on local driving and now put a good dollop of quality new fuel at the Shell garage in our village. It seems to have resolved things as no missing or hiccuping 🙏🤞.

Hopefully we’re cured.

Thanks - hopefully it’ll clear itself without any surgery.

I’ve got a 100 mile run to do tomorrow and think I’ll take the Omega and get some quality juice in it. Hopefully it will burn through 🙏

Will report back

Omega General Help / 3.0 MV6 rough running after laid up
« on: 13 June 2023, 07:22:23 »
I’ve started using my 3.0 MV6 this month after long period of been off road other than MOT trips.

It’s very eager to start and runs fine majority of time.

There is old fuel in the car and I’ve added about £25 to the tank when I started running it.

It feels it goes down to 4 or 5 cylinders occasionally.

Thinking it could be the old fuel mix until it’s all been used up - I could then change fuel filter as maybe some muck in fuel tank/lines with it being laid up.

Just looking at the cheapest/obvious/easiest options first.

Could I guess be electrical (hopefully not coil pack - bummer to get to) as there has been no maintenance to the electrics for a few years now as always started ok.

It seems it occurs intermittently when engine under load
