VW Passat, so no, not really.    Nice enough car to drive but I'd have rather have borrowed the RS6 that was in there.

Same as yesterday. Went outside with the intention of starting into fixing the French contraption. Looked at it in disgust and had a tinker with the Boxster instead.
ABS light was on and speedo doesnt work according to the previous owner. He supplied a new ABS sensor to fix both problems.
I removed the rear wheels and took resistance readings from the ABS sensors, and they were very similar to the new one.
First thought was ABS ECU fried, as this happened after the alternator packed up last year.
Second thought was, start with the basics. Had a look in the fuse box and found the fuse for ABS was blown.
Replaced the fuse and the ABS light went out, so I expect the speedo to work when the car goes on the road next week.
So, today has been worthwhile, so far.
I really need to go and start into the French contraption though, as Im back to work tonight for three nights.
Its lovely using the Omega for work, but 24mpg compared to 60mpg.

Nice, easy fix. Let's hope whatever caused the fuse to blow doesn't become a repeat offender.

Mrs YZ's Audi A3 2.0 TFSI S Line Sportback. It's a 2019 facelift Tech Pack so one of the last before the new shape came out.
I would have loved to have bought her an S3 but the chap I used to work with had two stolen so this was a compromise. She does less than 1K miles per year in it herself so I use it occasionally to give it a good thrashing clear the cobwebs.

As far as I know the problem first occurred when the alternator packed up last year, so assume it was connected to that ?

Still shouldn't.......alternator will either over or under volts, being a Porker its probably a Bosch ABS and they are good for way more volts than even a failing alternator can throw out onto a loaded supply (they are also switch mode internals so as volts go up, current drops). You can only hope that somebody shorted something out on the feed to the ABS unit whilst pissing around with the alternator 

But do check the supply wires carefully for damage/chaffing

Knowing what I know about the previous owner, shorting things out is entirely possible. Likely even. He mentioned there was quite a bit of smoke involved. 
I will check the wiring though, thanks.................................when I can find it.

Still haven't used all the fuel that was in TBE, so its still here.

The brakes, mind, are in desperate need of replacement, so maybe it'll go to the Bean factory with some fuel in, grrr.

I assume your taking the irmscher bits, CID,etc. off before it goes ?
