Current legislation (I think) is RTA 1988 sections 170(1) and (2) as I recall.

Duty of driver to stop, report accident and give information or documents.

(1)This section applies in a case where, owing to the presence of a [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] on a road [F2or other public place], an accident occurs by which—

(a)personal injury is caused to a person other than the driver of that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or

(b)damage is caused—

(i)to a vehicle other than that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] or a trailer drawn by that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or

(ii)to an animal other than an animal in or on that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] or a trailer drawn by that [F1mechanically propelled vehicle], or

(iii)to any other property constructed on, fixed to, growing in or otherwise forming part of the land on which the road [F3or place] in question is situated or land adjacent to such land.

(2)The driver of the [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] must stop and, if required to do so by any person having reasonable grounds for so requiring, give his name and address and also the name and address of the owner and the identification marks of the vehicle.

(3)If for any reason the driver of the [F1mechanically propelled vehicle] does not give his name and address under subsection (2) above, he must report the accident.

(4)A person who fails to comply with subsection (2) or (3) above is guilty of an offence.

(5)If, in a case where this section applies by virtue of subsection (1)(a) above, the driver of [F4a motor vehicle] does not at the time of the accident produce such a certificate of insurance or security, or other evidence, as is mentioned in section 165(2)(a) of this Act—

(a)to a constable, or

(b)to some person who, having reasonable grounds for so doing, has required him to produce it,

the driver must report the accident and produce such a certificate or other evidence.
This subsection does not apply to the driver of an invalid carriage.
(6)To comply with a duty under this section to report an accident or to produce such a certificate of insurance or security, or other evidence, as is mentioned in section 165(2)(a) of this Act, the driver—

(a)must do so at a police station or to a constable, and

(b)must do so as soon as is reasonably practicable and, in any case, within twenty-four hours of the occurrence of the accident.

(7)A person who fails to comply with a duty under subsection (5) above is guilty of an offence, but he shall not be convicted by reason only of a failure to produce a certificate or other evidence if, within [F5seven] days after the occurrence of the accident, the certificate or other evidence is produced at a police station that was specified by him at the time when the accident was reported.

(8)In this section “animal” means horse, cattle, ass, mule, sheep, pig, goat or dog.

I didn't write it, just paraphrasing it from an aging memory!

Again, insurance swap not required unless there is an injury.

If details not swapped at the scene then incident needs reporting at police office as soon as reasonable practicable and in any case, within 24 hours of occurrence thereof to be legal.

Locking so it falls off the screen and to stop additional comments bumping it back to the top again.

You only need to swap insurance details of there is an injury. To remain legal, law says you must swap reg numbers, name address of drivers and name and address of vehicle owner if different to driver.

And that's it.

Just so as to get a point of reference on this thread, I read a whole lot of crud on a daily basis as that's what I have agreed to do, and comment rarely as sometimes the threads I have to read really make my piles itch and to answer said thread truthfully (not as an admin) would buy me a ban.

To clarify, I get paid the square root of crack all to read the spurious Pish of assorted armchair warriors, bigots, and those empire building individuals who at some times seem superbly intent on stirring shit when there is none to stir.

Yes, I know the rank and file have the ability to read only what they wish and, believe you me, I wish I could do the same.   And sometimes I do when I loose the will to live due to some posters.

It's time some on this thread found a quiet corner and had a word with themselves then come back and play nicely.

I'm off to walk the dog.......

Booked a surprise week in London for me and her from 19th to 25th October.  Tried booking a theatre or two but no luck thus far.  Anyone any experience of any places/sites to obtain legit ones?

Only ever had a patrol car and a company Pan round the track at knockhill so not really 'racing' so cannot comment as it's suitability but have watched super bike series there as well as the touring cars. It makes good watching in my opinion.

And yes, knockhill does have its own microclimate. Can be pissing it down at the top and nice sunshine at lower levels as well as vice versa. Or all four seasons in a day at times!!

I find the oil debate quite amusing as the north sea has not a great deal left and what is there is pricey to extract and hence is dependent on oil prices being higher than $100 per barrel.

What I do fear is that oil and gas is not the answer to the Scottish independence funding gap and I still hope they vote No as they are great people being led on by a Muppet of the highest order.

Quite so.

But there is 90 plus % in nominally scottish waters which leaves not a lot in rUK. Does it matter that much if it runs out some time in the future?  It will run out a lot quicker in the rUK.

And muppets get regularly replaces every few years, just the same as England/wales/norn irn.

As said already.

The referendum is not like/dislike Eck the Fish. After a potential yes then all the nay saying mp's will be falling over themselves for election in whatever camp/colour they represent. Fishy will be one of a number.....

Apologies for this being a Facebook link. Can't get a straight one but it's worth a gander to show how manipulative news reporting can be.

And yes, I do appreciate that spin spins both ways!
