Our Metro doesn't start running/operating until 6 o'clock in the morning ........ no good if that's when you start work.  ::) ::)

All you midgets are very fortunate. At 6'4" any replacement car has to have plenty of legroom. The XJ6 I owned years ago was fine, so I guess a big Jag Saloon would do, only trouble is, I like an Estate also, so I don't know what would fit the bill :-\, as I hope not to need replacements any time soon, and have not really looked at any likely candidates. Mine are currently a 110k 2.5td estate and a 52k 3.2 saloon. :y

I am also 6' 4" The Astra has bags of legroom and headroom in the front. Also my son (17) can still sit behind me when driving without me having to move the seat. When wife drives her Astra there is more leg room in the back than in the front  ;D (4' 11")

I like the performance of the vxr8 but to get the Nav option it needs to be 07 on I gather, which wont be cheap.

Also like toys and comfort of the Phaeton. Cracking interior.

New shape Pasat is strikingly good looking too.

But there's nothing that ticks as many box's as the omega does, for me.

Nothing looming on the Horizon anytime soon though. :(

Phaeton would be a true successor, although spare part prices scare me. Plus VW dealers are generally incompetent, more so than the VX ones.

VXR8 is very nice, but none were made with xenon headlamps and I really struggle with going back to a car without xenons. I also suspect as a daily driver the economy might be an issue as well as the £460 road tax.

Jags excluding the XF's/recent models are too geriatric for my liking.

A note about the diesel V6 and V8 VW/Audi engines...

VW do marinised versions of these and access is horrendous. Also worth noting that the timing gear, although a chain set up, needs the engine to come out :o, so much for progress, at least the old ones you only had to strip the front of the car off ::)

For me it could be this .........

http://www.bellinger.co.uk/Used-Car-Details/used-vauxhall-vectra-30-cdti-184-sri-nav-xp-auto-estate-estate-black-sapphire-automatic-diesel-ID_132.aspx

That's about as nice as you can make a Vectra, just needs VXR leather pack and electric rear windows :y

Oh and a manual box ::)

...and a better centre console area. Looks really naf. :(

Nice looking example though, although I'm a sucker for black cars. :)

New shape Pasat is strikingly good looking too.
The one they pulled out of the back of my Rover was better looking than it was seconds before....

Well, there is something wrong if a modern car cannot stop as quick as a Rover ;D

I notice, where I work, VW drivers aspire to being Audi drivers. And drive as such.
