Omega General Help / Does this waterpump look right?

Ok so I have taken the water pump back off and succesfully removed the snapped bolt. However I just noticed this hole on the body of the pump. Does this look right?

Omega General Help / Rebuilding
« on: 22 January 2009, 11:44:08 »
Just in the process of putting everything back together after cam belt change and cam cover gasket change.

Is it necessary to change the inlet bridge to inlet and inlet to plenum gaskets or will the old ones be ok?

I only ask because I haven't ordered them and it is now stopping completing the work.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Oh break I've snapped a crank pulley bolt
« on: 15 January 2009, 19:15:38 »
As above. Putting crank pulley back on after changing cam belt, went to torque it up (65NM I think this is correct) and snapped one. Same in the water pump pulley!!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Assume I can't get away with 5 in the crank rather than 6? Will I be able to drill it out and re tap?

Omega General Help / Oil around Spark Plugs
« on: 15 January 2009, 14:36:51 »
Changing the cam cover gaskets and when I removed the spark plug leads there was loads of oil around the spark plugs. Is this normal?

I assume I have to clear this out before removing the spark plugs (changing them too), will I get better access to it once I have removed the cam covers? Is this oil due to the cam cover gaskets being shot?

Thanks

One of the pipes on the breather system on top of the plenum!!! >:(

Easy to replace or not??

Ok so I have posted before about not having any heat from my heaters.

Car gets up to working temperature fine so assume its not the thermostat. Yesterday I removed what I think is the vac pipe from hbv and I think the air got slightly warmer but nothing like I would expect with the climate on high.

Is it worth replacing the HBV while I have got the engine apart? How much for a new HBV?

Omega General Help / Which jobs in which order??
« on: 16 October 2008, 15:01:43 »
HELP ::)

I have a long list of jobs that I need to do to my 1998 MV6 manual and I don't know what order to do them in or where to start.

Could somebody knowledgeable on here please help me out. Can you tell me which jobs I should do at the same time (i.e so that I don't end up doing the same stuff twice).

Here is the list

Cam Belt and Water Pump
Clean Breathers
Rocker Gaskets
Manifold Gasket (I am sure it is this that is blowing)
Thermostat
Wheel Bearing
New front brake discs
Refurbish Wheels
Full Service
Possibly handbrake cable
Air con regas (not sure if it needs new parts or not)
Passenger door check strap
Have all scratches/rust resprayed

Think thats about it to start with. ::)

Thanks :y

Omega General Help / Wheel bearing?????
« on: 29 April 2008, 12:22:07 »
Hello

Just recently I have been hearing a rumbling noise which sounds like it is coming from the front offside wheel. First thought is wheel bearing but thought I would see if you could give me a second opinion.

Noise tends to be more prominent when I lift off or go round corners.

Wheel bearing or CV Joint??
