Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Failing switch?

Sometimes[only infrequently at present]when the engine has been running and then turned off when you go to restart it turning the key produces nothing,no engine turning ,no click from starter or anything.Remove the ignition key and re-insert it with a bit of an extra push as though you're trying to push the key further in and it starts straight away.Is this a sign the ignition switch is beginning to fail?If that is the case could that have any impact on the speedo/rev counter as these sometimes don't work but when not working and turning engine off the rev counter needle will flutter for several seconds and then sometimes stop showing something like 250 revs or it will sit properly at the bottom of the dial.Or is that a separate issue and to do with the instrument cluster itself?
