Direct stat kit
« on: 21 November 2013, 09:44:44 »

Just found this on the bay and seems good for considerable price. Does anybody have any experience or opinion on here in point if this kit?

TIA

Laszlo

My general experience of the insert only kits is not so great.

When fitted they always solve the issue as they dont seem to seat well on the old castings hence I dont take the risk (particulalrly not on V6's and units where the stat is behind the cambelt) and changing otut can be lengthy

Fit the standard stat .Not too expensive, Not a job you want to repeat if it doesnt work.

Not to mention the possibility of damaging the housing as you remove it.
Buy a complete unit

Does rather assume that the old housing comes away intact ::)
