Omega General Help / Omega's gone
« on: 10 January 2008, 13:42:53 »
Well Guys, the Omega has gone and replaced with a 2005 Ford Focus, not quite as refined as the Omega!! but at least can drive with a bit of peace now with no braking, steering, tramling issues and generally fighting with the car! Just wanted to say thanks to all that helped with any issues i had etc, but will still be looking in, in order to assist others if possible.
Good luck to you all :y

Omega General Help / Cam cover torque sequence
« on: 31 December 2007, 17:17:57 »
Got a slight oil leak from rear of cam cover and found that the bolts needed torqeing down slightly at 6 lbft, however I got a bit impatient waiting for engine to get cold and have torqued them with a warm (not hot), hopefully won't cause a problem?
Thinking about it some more has anyone got a diagram etc of the correct tightening sequence?

Omega General Help / Brake Disc warp
« on: 28 December 2007, 19:17:31 »
Found this morning that discs appear to have warped again for the fact that I was getting steering wheel shake under braking, only changed them a couple of months ago for the same reason and previously back in January, so decided to get Genuine Vx ones along with new pads for £81 on Trade club , so good price that, hopefully now after fitting these they might last a bit longer!! one thing I noticed with New Vx discs was that there was no cleaning to do as such,  as they weren't coated in any oil preservative at all which did save a bit of time, anyone else found this with the Genuine ones? unlike the Pattern ones I bought, caked in the stuff!! hopefully no more wobble ,not unless I've now got a sticky caliper!

Omega General Help / Repairing heated seat
« on: 15 December 2007, 15:51:36 »
Has anyone successfully managed to repair a heated front seat? the driver's side  one is not working, think it might be heater mat itself as the light above the switch works , fuse ok and any connectors I can see are all intact, I noticed that with just ignition on and then switch on passengers side the warning lights on the dash dim slightly, so that's drawing current , but when switching on the driver's side warning lights don't dim at all so I guess there's an open cicuit somewhere  , any suggestions welcome

Omega General Help / Heated seats
« on: 14 December 2007, 13:55:49 »
For those of you that have tried them; how long are you finding it's taking for your heated seats to warm up in this cold weather? mine were working last time I tested them (back in the summer!!) they seem to be taking ages now , to the point where I'm thinking are they working or is it heat from my backside warming the seat!!

Omega General Help / Omega front doors
« on: 03 December 2007, 14:30:43 »
Are the front doors the same  on both pre- Facelift and facelift as I'm looking to get some wind deflectors and I'm told the deflectors will  fit '94 to 2003 models

Omega General Help / oil level on dip stick
« on: 29 November 2007, 14:26:52 »
Anyone else having trouble getting a decent reading on oil level dipstick? has 4 or 5 indentations on it and find that on removal, level seems to be missing 2nd from top on stick then then further up theres more , can't work out if oil is 3/4 full or full if this makes sense, wondering if it could be the stick is scrubbing on removal but no matter which orientation I place   the stick the same thing happens ! Not a real problem but just me trying to be precise as usual!!  ;)

Omega General Help / New tyres
« on: 17 November 2007, 16:19:22 »
Well had my new dunlop sp9000's on the front for about 2 weeks now (had Falken ZE 512 before) and car seems to drift about on uneven road surfaces worse than  before really have to keep a tight rain on that steering wheel, I still have the ZE512's on the rear, could it be that the car is being pulled about by the rear Falkens ?, if car is driven on motorway or nice smooth tarmac roads then all is good, this car just feels unnerving to drive and need to resolve this issue or car is going to highest bidder or local canal ;D

Omega General Help / oil level
« on: 11 November 2007, 17:33:17 »
why is it that vx say the level must be checked with the engine at operating temperature and a wait of about 5 mins as if you do an oil change and follow this procedure, when you go to check oil next day on a cold engine chances are the level will be above the max. Myself I always tended to fill to max on a cold engine, never had any issues that way! what do you guys think?

Omega General Help / Climate buttons
« on: 09 November 2007, 13:15:35 »
Does anyone know of any company that has the capability of re-coating the facelift climate control buttons or even the company that Vx would have used to produce the panel in the first place?

Omega General Help / braking issues
« on: 16 October 2007, 19:35:17 »
When applying the brakes (not particularly hard) at around the 60mph 'ish the steering wheel starts shaking (left and right as it were) rather than juddering, fitted new discs and pads and idler arm back in January, so hoping it's not the discs that are warping already after only 6,000 miles, has anyone had this with theirs and found the problem to be anything other than Discs, was under the car not so long ago and no other issues seemed apparent. any help appreciated .

Omega General Help / windows misting
« on: 20 September 2007, 18:27:42 »
Had the air-con on for quite a while yesterday, but needed just a bit more power up some hills so pressed the ECO button and within seconds windows were misting up, so had to press Auto button again, any ideas why this is, is it something to do with residue from aircon in the vents and then not being cooled as it were? just hoping I've got no other issues here; the Pollen filter was changed a while back and no water collecting in scuttle area (drain holes clear)
