Thats sweet, now I take it you have an ECU upgrade?

Also what is that number at the wheels?  RWHP?

Mine put down 195 RWHP and 207 RWTQ

I was told that translates to around 234BHP... @20% drivetrain loss...

nope, standard car bar the Remus backbox and both middle boxes removed...air filter is the first upgrade then a remap later this year.

was putting down 200bhp at the wheels

Wow thats insane close to 30bhp just from the exhaust system and a filter huh?  that just tells you how much the stock unit sux!...

On another note what kind of a gain is the ECU going to give you... I have been hearing additional 20hp but a sacrifice in fuel consumption...  :-/

thats a 30bhp increase on just an exhaust....the filter is still standard. i know of another 3.2 that was putting out 247bhp with a straight through exhaust....he then fitted a BMC CDA, he hasnt got it RR'd yet so that should be an interesting result!

ive heard somewhere around 20bhp increase with an ECU upgrade, ive also heard of more. Should be more interesting come the end of hte summer :D

ive also got a better image of the print out for your viewing pleasure:D

I keep looking at your Torque and HP curves and I jsut cant figure out why the Torque curve peaks up and then dives down...

When I dynoed mine it peaked at 3200-3400rpm range and stayed flat at slightly below peak for the rest of the trip and started to die off right after 6000... and that was the intersting part... No power adders but yet a flat torque curve... I suppose maybe something is wrong with my Ram system?

BTW that is one sweet car you got there... I love the color and the wheels...

Another thing to note the electrical system IE... the headlights etc use up a good 2-3hp as well... I have talked to a few dyno guys and they all say you should turn the stuff off, and keep as little load on the alternator as you can to see exactly what the engine puts out... otherwise they say the average is around 2hp loss with stuff running...

balls i never thought of that, and the climate was set on auto too lol! however, HID's only draw about 30w or something and the climate should have a system where when the car is at full throttle it should disengage the air con pump to allow for full power. (well, thats the way my old Toledo worked, vauxhalls could be different lol)

o well,im not too worried really....ill just be in for a bigger suprise next time :D

as for torque curve, ive never seen an omega chart so im not sure. i asked phil who did the run and he said she was going really well. coming from a honda making 121lb/ft this is a welcome change! :D

cheers for your kind comments!

Now that I got a glimpse of your car I got more questions... for once do you have more pictures to show me... I would like to lower mine as well and I was wondering if you can tell me which springs you used, how much it lowered the car and also how did you handle the alignment issues...

I hear lowering makes the Camber go to around 2-3deg which is terrible for the tires... so I want to find out all of that before i jump on the band wagon...

Cheers M8  (lovely car you got there, I envy you  :y)

ok, well, i only have the car about 3 weeks! so everything thats been done to her was done by the previous owner!

suspension wise, shes been lowered 40mm on Spax springs and the shocks have been changed to Blistein items that the Police use here. Supposed to be stiffened up with the extra weight they have to carry.

rear camber, yes, i have noticed that the rear tyres are wearing more on the inside but ill just get the swapped over to wear them more evenly. and theyll hardly be there long either....turning the TC off is just too much fun :D

theres no way shes being lifted, i think shes sitting perfectly! hope that helps! tyres circumference is just right in the arches, pretty much the same gap all the way round

LED rear lights are a nice touch too, are those from the catera?

Yep thos lights are awesome but to switch to them you need the entire trunk lid... the whole thing is different...

As for me and my car the springs will be an upgrade at the moment but the shocks may be going so those will probably get replaced with another set possibly Koni.... we will have to wait and see what comes along...

;) IS the ride bouncy or stiff? how would you rate it, I know it will be better then stock, also do you see any rubbing at all anywhere?

It's possible that the worn rear tyres may have been on the front and were swapped to the back.

Nice, a far superior but similar test to what I was banging on about a few weeks ago and then forgot to follow up!

Great results from standard ECU! I have the dastek unichip fitted I'm just trying to scan the graphs. Kind of feel a bit robbed now looking at the quality of your print outs!

See what I mean:

Unichip Off: 213BHP

Unichip On: 236BHP

Now, what would she get with similar mods to yours? I've been advised not to de-cat unless purchasing a complete tuned new exhaust system?

both cats are still in my motor, just the middle boxes removed and the remux backbox....

Comparing your graph with mine I notice you don't have a slight flatspot seen in mine around 3500rpm. I really feel that when full throttle 2nd thru to 4th. A little annoying also as it sits right at the point of average flowing mway speed so when there's a gap there's initial slight hesitation in 5th when getting back up to 90/100. No idea what would cause this flatspot.

So the two middle boxes are simply removed without any further work required? I've just been checking out Remus exhaust backboxes and surprised by their low cost. Sound nice too?

Really nice sound even at youtube bandwidth. Starting quite soft edged but nice and burbly, like a V8 should sound with 2 cylinders less :)
Love to hear the MV6 full throttle growl under load too!

i see what you mean with the torque lines, both in your graphs and the ones above. my car seems to really die away.
to be fair though, you dont really notice it when your driving still pulls all the way to the cut out!

232BHP eh its the manifolds thats the v6's problem if it could have bigger manifolds i reckon serious bhp gains could be achieved it would also make way for Forced induction more air in = more air out  ;)

That black Irmscher Catera is bloody stunning really clean and right up my street! i deffinatly would pay £8000 for that instead of an elite with 39k ;D ;D ;D (Hope Lee Reads This!!!)  ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

Good to see the old lady is making good power, i loved that car, If i didnt do 25k miles a year id never have sold her, i had a panel filter in it but it was an oiled one, it scrapped my airflow meter so make sure and get a dry one mate, bought another one there, but im going for diesel this time just for some kind of economy, still getting a diff tho for the necessary lol

I thought the note wasnt as deep when i had the oiled panel filter in, as if it was gettin too much air, thought it actually went better with just a standard item, CDA's are definately the rod, grahams one is goin alot better since he put that onto his,  :y

not bad at all, maybe a backbox like mine would like it a little more though with the powerbox i expected you to be higher than mine.
have to ask though, see all the sensors that plug into the old 1 into 2 piping after the airbox....what did you do with them all?

the backbox is Walker, i think it's ok

I'm not sure I understand you well, if you're talking about air temp. sensor and flowmeter, here you can see they're still there:

i only got rid of this valve:

The most important thing now is to isolate thermally the cone air filter from the engine - it has to take cold air from outside the car... This will give some more power for sure...

iv got a 2.5 v6 est i removed both cats but left the middle boxes on as i did with my previous car a cavalier v6 which on that greatly improved things but on the miggie, as suggested it didnt improve things at all, didnt make it noticable worse but no better.i have now refitted the cats and removed the middle boxes and replaced the back box with twin cherry bombs, this not only sounds good but has improved performance enough to warrant doing it.

thats a 30bhp increase on just an exhaust....the filter is still standard. i know of another 3.2 that was putting out 247bhp with a straight through exhaust....he then fitted a BMC CDA, he hasnt got it RR'd yet so that should be an interesting result!

ive heard somewhere around 20bhp increase with an ECU upgrade, ive also heard of more. Should be more interesting come the end of hte summer :D

ive also got a better image of the print out for your viewing pleasure:D

Quite correct, i had my ECU done then had a full re-map and a few other tweeks here and there and the results are below..

My 3.0i engine has just 47,000 under its belt which helps

Run 1

231BHP
203lb/ft

Run 2

233BHP
201lb/ft

Run 3 After Remap

251BHP
219lb/ft  peaked at 6500rpm but now revs higher then ever

Dont expect the same fuel economy though :y
