My new Elite - here at last!
« on: 26 April 2009, 21:17:14 »

Finally got down to Yorkshire this weekend to collect the latest addition to my family of Omega's. This one's a 3.2 Elite and in fantastic condition - only 15000 miles on the clock and a full service history to support it. The leather is totally unmarked and the car drives like it is brand new.

Weather has been pretty crap today so haven't had a chance to give it a proper clean and polish but here's a couple of pics for now...

Not sure why it has the CDX alloys instead of the normal Elite ones - not a problem for me really as I think I prefer the look of the CDX type - well spotted though  :y

Wow a time warp Omega and very very nice...... is this for normal use or just as a show car, only asking as i used to be into the concours scene..

Elite wheels would make the car though and it would be then 100% original.. :y

Thanks for the comments guys.

As I said, I don't mind the wheels. Previous owner was an 83 year old accountant with no family so car has hardly seen any use - I doubt whether the wheel change thing was anything to do with him. More likely the dealers did a quick swap at point of sale knowing the old guy would know any different.

This car will be used - and some! I do around 30k a year with my job so need a reliable car. I have 2 other Mig's at the moment so they share the workload but I reckon I'll sell the 2.5 on purely cos I need the parking space. I have a funny feeling I may sell the 2.6 at some point soon aswell so the Elite will be taking a pounding.

seems a bit of shame to rack up the miles like that in such a pristine example!

I totally agree, I reckon you should sell it to someone who only does 2000 miles a year.   I for that reason I will put myself forward to take it off your hands.

Seriously though.  Nice motor.  (and the cash is waiting)

Nice motoer -- I have an Elite but "dumbed down" the wheels to a lower spec model, purely because I prefer them to the Elite originals :)

Thanks for all the comments guys.  :y

Car has just crossed the 16000 miles mark and I expect it to be at 17000 before the end of the week. Just about to set off on a trip from Scotland to Wales via Newcastle and back again. It does seem a shame to put so many miles on this motor but then again that's what they were built for - touring in comfort.  :)

Thanks Andy. Hopefully your kids are gonna get rich quick - at your expense!

Never mind looking at the pictures - just imagine having the real thing living in your drive - being able to go look, touch, embrace - sit inside whenever you want - run your hands across that smooth taught, leather - carress that willing eager steering wheel - feel the raw power......

Enough.  ;)

That certainly is a beautiful car...and in my opinion £3300 is a damn good price for such a low mileage mint example. What age is it if you don't mind me asking?

It's an early 2002 on a 51 plate.

On my trip to Wales it returned average fuel consumption of 29.5 mpg and an average speed of 71mph. As you can tell - I wasn't sparing the horse  ::)

A stunner. Worth every penny. Given the mileage you do i would'nt use it as my every day car, not only the low miles but stonechips/general wear & tear would spoil it. ALL cars should be used, nothing is that precious but if it was mine i'd buy/keep another one for everyday, too good for tramping.
Has the cambelt been done? Not due on miles but would be overdue on age, be a crying shame for it to let go on a 15,000 miler. :'( :y 8-)

Agreed. I'm running the 2 migs just now but the insurance on both cars is crippling as I need fully comp, business use etc.. The 3.2 is getting closer to 18000 miles now but it just drives so well - I dont want to take the 2.6 any more  :)

Hoping to get Daz and Pete up here in the next couple of weeks to have the cambelts done on both migs... and any other Jock Migs that need it!  :y

Would agree with the comments regarding milage...keep one of your others and rack up the miles on that...if you want to keep the value of the car then the lower the miles the better...2 or 3 years at 30k a year and its just another Omega...nothing special, condition will suffer as a result too and with 80-90k on the clock value will be considerably less...

Given that the car 'only' cost £3k, use it and rack up the miles, where else can you buy a 'new' car for £3k and swan around in unashamed luxury. The difference in depreciation on one of these in 3 years time if you have 30k on it or 130k on it will not be perceptable, expecially if you start putting repair costs onto an older / higher milage vehicle.

Use it and luv it  :y
