Alex Zinardi wins gold
« on: 05 September 2012, 18:49:54 »

Im sure some will remember him as an Indycar racer and then F1 racer who lost his legs in a sickening crash in the U.S.
He took up handcycling and won gold at Brands Hatch today. They do say you cant keep a good man down.
True grit imo. :y

Well done to Alex. Watched a YouTube documentary about him the other night. Horrific crash, incredible fightback and now a well-deserved sporting reward.  :y :y

ISTR that he had less than a pint of blood left in his body at the lowest point of the horrific crash  :o :o And none of the doctors expected him to survive, let alone come back and win a gold medal! Well done :y :y

Iirc his heart had to be restarted 7 times on the way to hospital. The accident was one of the worst ive ever seen where someone survived.

Correction.The accident was during a C.A.R.T. race,but was in Germany,not the U.S.
