General Car Chat / Sneaky little punt
« on: Yesterday at 18:51:46 »
Took a ride to the auction house today selling a few more of my Dinky & Corgi collection , they sell everything house clearance etc + the odd car from deceased estates, I spied  a gleaming black VW Up 2015 reg with 2,300 miles 1 owner MOT just expired so put a pre auction bid in, if I get it cheap enough put it through a test could make a few quid..😁

General Car Chat / MG 5 EV
« on: 18 November 2021, 13:46:49 »
Had our first drive in an electric vehicle, a friend's son works for MG just wanted an honest opinion , got to say it went well  looked to me very similar to a VW Passat estate pretty quick & comfortable but at 34,000 it wouldn't be for us.

Wifey fancies a soft top motor don't ask me why ! She found a 2001 MGF one owner from new with 7,900 miles at a classic car specialist in Peterborough , wanted to go & view it this afternoon , I stuck to my guns definitely out of the question if it had been the Honda S2000 they also have I may have been tempted.

General Discussion Area / John Lewis insurance advert removed.
« on: 28 October 2021, 23:13:24 »
Read today that the John Lewis ad we discussed on here a few weeks ago ( young lad dressed as a female wrecking his house) has been pulled from TV due to being  " misleading" I'd have described it as being bloody stupid.

General Discussion Area / Not a bad little earner.

When I bought my E430 Merc about 5 years ago I purchased a private plate from the DVLA for it , when I sold the Merc I put the plate on a retention certificate decided to sell the plate via Regtransfers on the 24th of September, it sold today for 3 times what I paid for it..😄

General Car Chat / Stainless steel system for the RRS
« on: 05 October 2021, 19:24:28 »
I had a stainless steel exhaust system fitted to our first Subaru Forester several years ago by Longlife cost around 400 , when the Range Rover was being serviced in August I had a look at the system which is the original one while it was up on the ramps & thought it was looking a bit tired in places, had a quote today from Longlife for it, seems reasonable at 575 with a lifetime guarantee  my Xmas pressie to myself.

« on: 01 October 2021, 23:17:53 »

Had the grandkids for the weekend as their parents are in London for a few days , they wanted a Chinese last night so had a really good blowout for 52.00 & then woke up to an email from the lottery that I had won 96.00 for three numbers as it was a multiple rollover 😄

General Car Chat / Low mileage 2 owner Mercedes 190e Cosworth
« on: 27 August 2021, 17:36:55 »
Going to look at this on Tuesday, not for me unfortunately a mate of mine has found one for sale in Kent the owner has died & family need to sell it for probate etc. Sounds good 57,000 miles great service history on a J so 1991/2 wants me to run him down check it out & collect it if possible, had a 190e a few years back so know a little about them, nice day out ..😎

Got quite a collection of toy cars some are mine from when I was a kid & some I've purchased over the years, I have a model of virtually every car I've owned from the Austin A40 to the RRS , been after an Omega for ages but the ones on offer were in poor condition or good but at a ridiculous price, saw a Mirrormax model on the bay brand new & boxed for 5.00 or best offer + postage offered 3.33 received a counteroffer of 4.00 agreed at 3.65 . Okay it's in Police livery but mint & boxed 😄

General Car Chat / Slight loss of performance
« on: 18 August 2021, 11:02:11 »
Picked the RRS up this morning after its MOT & service I had noticed a slight loss of performance on kickdown turns out to be down to a split turbo boost pipe ,which has been replaced also had the aircon regassed, apparently the MOT tester remarked how clean & tidy the Range Rover is , my indie only uses genuine LR parts so all filters & oils & MOT came to 616 Inc vat, so for a years motoring on one of these I think that's pretty reasonable.👍

« on: 18 August 2021, 08:28:07 »
