Yes, wishing you a full recovery. We need to be thankful for each day of good health.

I met two of our neighbours out walking. Hiking poles, small backpacks with a drinking tube neatly clipped to one of the backstrap straps, in the old days people just had a small bottle of water in their hand.

They certainly were. Musically and culturally. And they produced a really great songwriter in George Harrison, who was unfortunately overshadowed by the ocean going sized ego,s of the two lesser talents in the band.
They would never have become what they did though without George Martin. His musical knowledge and production skills were a very big part of their success.

My Dad played in various Big Bands, culminating in Jeff Laycocks Big Band. They tried to go professional and appeared on Hughie Greens opportunity knocks. They “ won” playing Norwegian Wood that was a George Martin but I think written by Harrison/Mcartney. I say won , as Hughie took them to one side and said they couldnt afford to bring them all back so you can come second! I still have the EP they produced. They didnt go professional. Probably for the best as Big Bands went out of favour sadly.

All those middle class champagne socialists in the same place at the same time.
Wheres the RAF when you need them.  >:D

At Armed Forces Day? . Despite watching multiple uk news channels, I failed to see any coverage. Maybe there wasnt any? Quite disappointed as I was in Scarborough two years ago but couldn’t make it today.

I have never got eating gold leaf.

Zero nutritional value. You might as well just rip up some 20’s and throw them down the pan

Dogs can overheat just being out on a gentle walk. In this heat ,ours goes out first thing for a walk and last thing at night just before bed with a requested comfort break or two in between.

That summer, I worked at QES ( plastic injection moulding factory in Nottingham). The temp was over a 100 everyday inside. Chilwell depot threatened to walkout as it was over 90F. I used to drink five pints of milk each day at work.

Murderously hot here in central Andalucia. It is only 38 outside at the moment . It was 40C earlier ( while we were laying 8 cu m of concrete. Minimum tonight is forecast to be 23C .

That qualifies for “ sub tropical” . Over 25C minimum is “ tropical” . If our bedroom is. Over 25 it is difficult to sleep even with a ceiling fan. One plus is it is a dry heat unlike the lower heat on the Costa del Sol where it is more humid.

Maybe the real issue is the contraction of the economy.

If people fill up less often, cancel netflicks, only have one Starbucks a week, struggle on with their one year old iphone 16S, don't buy a new car then the problems begin - not the least being less jobs ( although apparently there are plenty in the UK) and less tax take for the chancellor.

General Discussion Area / Bottled sweat
« on: 16 June 2022, 16:32:27 »
Stephs packed lunch today had some female internet influencer who sells stuff to her fans.

Bottled farts at up to 500 dollars was very popular. The process was to douse a petal and then insert  into phial for posting out. Despite it being incredibly popular she had to stop as her diet was causing that much gas that she thought she was going to have a heart attack ( fart attack maybe).

So she is now selling her fans breast sweat. She has to sit out in the sun . ….well you can imagine the harvesting and packaging process.

Ever think you spent a life in the wrong job! It is amazing the perversions that are out there.

Anyone got anything similar?

General Discussion Area / Fuel- supermarket v premium
« on: 10 June 2022, 17:07:45 »
Actually make that three categories.

1 BP, Shell type garages

2. Supermarket

3. Low cost fuel outlets.

The spread between the three is quite big in Spain. What about the quality? Are we going to see a lot of worn out cars in five years time from using the cheap stuff?  Does it matter which we use?
