General Car Chat / Re: ULEZ
« on: 28 August 2023, 21:00:32 »
E have got this madness all over Europe.

We bought our stucker (about £5) but werent sure where in the screen to put it. Reading the blurb it is bottom right  went to Granada city centre and parked below a hotel bang in the centre as usual. Never saw another sticker all day yet apparently scheme is in operation.

You can drive in , in a polluter, and park in a city centre pak without charge/fine. The machines are apparently linked to the cameras.

Worse is that Portugal and France operate different schemes. We do a lot driving around but it is getting harder every day. Most Spanish towns are bound to introduce ULEZs by end of 2023 including our locall 20,000 people town. Cameras are already up. .

What I need is n app to avoid LEZ’d. Is there one yet?

Cannot afford to change car yet…………

General Car Chat / Re: Minor roads in Daventry area.
« on: 27 August 2023, 13:30:05 »
We drove in Spain year before last the roads in the area were fantastic & even the roundabouts were well cared for with fantastic displays of colourful flowers, our roundabouts in this area look like areas of a jungle that have been plonked in the road.

Quite true. We do have potholes but not as bad as the uk. I keep putting off driving back to Yorkshire. The A64 from York to Scarborough is stop start.

What would she have done differently?

Support for giga factories like other countries in Europe have done?

Stemmed the inevitable job moves from the city?

Different stance on the perennial and never ending  migration issue?

Same here in Spain.

Prices just keep going up. Press here says Russia and our “ friends” the Saudis have cut production.

Diesel was 168.9 euros yesterday.

« on: 24 August 2023, 10:02:42 »
Well done to the Indians for managing to put a lander onto the dark side of the moon. I wonder how much of the millions we give to them as aid, (dressed up as 'economic development') helped to pay for that extravagance. Millions of their citizens are starving for goodness sake.

It's only a few pence each for the people in the human pyramid big enough to reach the moon...
I read that the maximum spent for their space programme is $2.6 billion. What will they do when the kitty runs out? Just give up or have a whip round? Like down the local pub.  ;D

This junket only cost 74 million dollars. Peanuts compaed to Nasa budget for Artemis ( manned though). No doubt one day, the mineral rights and land on moon will divied up between the four countries that bothered to go there. Might just end up being a great move by India.

We said the same ronny.

When the Russian craft crashed going to do the same, we wondered if they would claim it was caused by a Ukranian drone!

My idea of building a wall around Britain is getting more sensible each time this bullshit happens.

You could use cheap immigrant  labour!

Bought the wrong Apple charging cable from a premium high street retailer here in Spain ( Media Markt) on their advice.

Took it back unused for a refund. Can’t , you have ruined the box opening it wrongly!

“ Get out of here, I know my consumer rights. Refund please.” Manager called. Then they went off in a huddle with a third person. Solution. To print off a special return label and seal the Apple product with a code. I am guessing it goes back to Apple Spain and they use it on a display or rebox it.

Got my refund but what a palaver !

The sheer incompetence of the people running this country staggers me  >:(

Exactly. The Tories just have not showered themselves with credit or joined upness.

Someone must have overseen the Bibby Stocholm or BS for short project. If it has been hanging around empty somewhere then surely a flush of tanks and pipwork would have been part of the project plan. Slick it aint.
