Wizz Air  :( :(
My lad landed in Manchester from Houston yesterday morning, Singapore Airlines out and back, not a hitch. Quick nights kip and 0930 flight from Leeds Bradford to Romania this morning. Up at 0430, knackered, and two coaches from Sheffield to LBA. Flight overbooked, they were bumped. After much conversation and form filling, it was agreed that Wizz Air would book them on a flight from Luton tomorrow morning, put them in a taxi down there and book them a hotel tonight.
This was at 0930 this morning, they're still at Leeds  >:(

Forgot to put my garden bin out last night.  :(

Now I have to waste a few hours bagging the contents and taking it to the tip.  >:(

Despite having to pay council tax of over £1600 pa ( which to me only covers having the bins emptied) we now have to pay extra (cant remember how much - circa £75 pa) to have our garden waste bin emptied. >:( >:(
I think our council tax came through the other day, £2800 I think, to empty the bins 26 times unless there is a hint of wintery weather...

Our green bin was around £40 since they started charging, but doubled this year, no doubt to help pay for the bone idle lame and lazy.

And, despite charging us 2800/26 = >£100 each time they empty our bins, they want to either half our bin sizes, or move to collection every 3 weeks.  Knowing West Northants council, former South Northants council before they blew all their money on a new office block and went bankrupt, they'll do both.

Yep they can only be bothered to empty the bins once a month and the plebs are living in the potholes, but they have plenty of cash for rainbow pedestrian crossings which are spreading round the country like a rash!  ::)
Not in Barnsleywakefield they're not.

On a broader front, I wonder if the tide is turning on these woke lefty types? ???   :-\

We've seen Jacinda Ardern in New Zealand resign, then Wee Kranky went, and now Verruca. Who's next?  Canada's Trudeau?  ???

Looks like he wanted to change the wording of the constitution so as to be more gender neutral and inclusive.

Apparently words such as family, mother, and woman are outdated and offensive to some in 2024. ::)

But fortunately the Irish people told him to go f*uck himself
He's probably tried

Yep we pay an extra £69.50 a year for the garden bin.  ::)
I'm glad I put decking at the back and block paving at the front. Not that anyone in Barnsley would consider paying for green waste removal, there would be bonfires everywhere  ;D

I regularly get the two fingered salute from other motorists, but sometimes they can only be bothered with one.

It is The LC colour, nearest I'll get to one at the prices they are now,  It was purchased for a bit less than advertised, It's on a 63 plate, the only thing I think it wasn't speccd with is heated steering wheel,, Would have liked the full fat VXR but the Tax on them is Stupid, did look at one, it was red so that's a no instantly,.
Biggest issue I've found is Traders who can't be arsed, not tuning up, thinking that everyone is a bit dim,and you point out faults with the car that are looking you in face, obvious ones and they get very defensive, looked at one rear beam heavily corroded to excess,  needed discs,, Wouldn't discount price, and said it's fine,,,   Too

Took a while to find this one, but we have it all locked up.☺️
Try to get some pics up at weekend.

Sounds like a good buy, BG. :y

You won't miss the heated steering wheel if you grew up with ice on the inside of the windows like I did. ;)

In order to get the heated wheel and keyless entry on my car I would have needed to find an extra £800+ for the comfort pack. Needless to say I didn't tick that box.

Does that provide comfort for the car thieves?  ;D

I hear that cars with keyless entry are easier to nick. :)
Yes.....but....on the wife's grandland, if you press the key to lock it, you need to press the key to open it again. Keyless entry doesn't work until you lock the car that way again. I hope that is also the case on more expensive models. If not, why not?

Do you keep your keys in a Faraday cage?......supposedly this will stop thieving scum from nicking your car without the need for keys.
No. Listen carefully

Ok?

Built the zafira back up after replacing the cam dephasers and she's once again back to her quiet old self  :y

Time to get the advert written!
Do you think it might work on the wife?

Unfortunately, it's now so secure that third party apps, like Intelligent Octopus, can't talk to it.

Lots of news and analysis about the Russian elections not being free and fair tonight. Unnecessarily poking the bear, in my opinion. As if Putin gives the tiniest shite about what the west thinks.

Growing up in Norn Irn, I barely heard mention of Paddys day. It just didnt seem to be a big thing.
No the whole fickin world goes mad for it for some strange reason.  :-\
It has always been a big deal in Liverpool. Yates wine lodge was rammed from 9 in the morning.

Managed to get two of the screws undone. Turns out they're actually E10 torx. The garage can fight the other two as they have a bracket stuck over them making it almost impossible to get a decent purchase on them so rather than round them off I have soaked them in oil and let them be.

Also started to investigate why the rear windows don't work. Some basic poking got the motors out and established that the motor physically turns freely and its gearbox moves without issue, as do the regulators... I did wonder if the windows had stuck in the frames, but the regulators move without issue if you manually move the windows, so frames lubed with PTFE spray.

Electrically, the switches work but there's something amiss in the door ECUs as there is a short between the two power feeds to the motor regardless of switch position which suggests a fault within the door ECUs as they contain relays  that supply the motor rather than a software issue.
Much simpler with the handles you wind up and down.

The HP line is a fickin nuisance, the minute you put it down it coils itself up. I'll have to start storing it flat, somehow.

There's an environmental argument against such low speeds as vehicles simply aren't designed to travel so slowly... Not to mention the fact that localised pollution is increased by virtue of traffic build up.

Lundun being a case in point as localised pollution increases in direct proportion to each drop in traffic speed/flow.

Yet, some motorways have displayed the Matrix boards to reduce the speed limit to 60mph to 'improve air quality' (supposedly)...the M1 near Sheffield being one  ???
That's just ended because......work this one out.....air quality has improved. Now, has it improved because of the speed reduction, in which case why increase it again? Or is it just magic?
If they really want to "Improve" Sheffield they'll need a crane and a wrecking ball. ::)
The same can be said of every city in the UK, including the picturesque southern ones ruled by lentil munchers.
