.... and her resignation letter is eviscerating!  :o

" You hold the office of Prime Minister unelected, without a single vote, not even from your own MPs. You have no mandate from the people and the Government is adrift. You have squandered the goodwill of the nation, for what? "  Ooof!  >:D

General Discussion Area / Failed Double Glazing Units
« on: 14 August 2023, 20:33:08 »
I've got a couple of knackered double glazed windows and a patio door with condensation in them and it's going to be very expensive to replace them.  ::)  :(

Saw a Youtube vid where a fella carefully took the double glazing unit apart, cleaned and dried the glass and then reassembled and resealed the unit. It didn't look that difficult, but maybe somewhat of a faff...  :-\  Wouldn't fancy doing it with the patio door unit to be honest!  :-X

I've come across this repair kit, where you drill two holes on the inside of the window, squirt some 'drying agent stuff' into the cavity between the two panes of glass, plug the holes with vents and Bob's yer Uncle!  :y   :-\   :D     Snake oil?  ???  :-\  There's good reviews!  :)

I'm tempted to try the repair kit on a small window round the back though. See how it goes...  ???  :-\  I'd better have a suitable sized bit of plywood handy just in case though...  ::)  ;D

Anyone done this? Any pearls of wisdom for me fellas?  ???  :)

General Car Chat / Front or Back?
« on: 08 August 2023, 13:32:03 »
I've got a pair of new tyres on the Monsit and I generally put new tyres on the front for better traction and water displacement in the wet.

However, I've see some say that new tyres should go on the back to increase traction on the back end reduce the chance of the back end sliding out.

What do you lot do?  ???

Wouldn't you think that the PM's house would have a 24/7 security team even when he's on his holibobs?  ???  ::)  :-\

Those JSO arseholes could have planted a bomb or something.  ::)

General Car Chat / What's The Scam?
« on: 10 July 2023, 23:26:22 »
I've been scanning the car ads on Facebook Marketplace and have noticed a few extremely cheap Disco 4's.  Last night for example there was a nice looking 2014 one with about 78,000 miles for £6000 in Barnstable.  Looking at the sellers profile, he appeared to be a dealer with about 20 cars for sale, but all of the cars he had listed were cheap and each car he had listed were photographed in a totally different place, as if the photos were lifted from ads somewhere else. Also he doesn't mention he is a dealer.

A 2014 Disco 4 for £6000 is obviously too good to be true, unless it's nicked or has a seized engine or something, but this is not the first time I have seen this.

So what's the scam?  :-\

General Discussion Area / Russia

Well it seems that Putin's attack dog has turned on him.  :)

Civil war? Coup d'etat?

Photos of Russian armoured units on the streets of Moscow and even digging trenches and defensive positions on the outskirts.  Meanwhile it seems Rostov on Don  is under the control of Prigozhin's Wagner mercenaries, while Prigozhin himself is on route to Moscow.  ::)

Popcorn time......

.... diesel is now cheaper than petrol at my local Tesco.

Petrol £1.469

Diesel £1.429

Not long ago petrol was 15p a litre cheaper than diesel and Lord Opti will be weeping as he fills up the Mexican supercar wishing he'd bought the soot chucker version!  :D

General Discussion Area / Hilka Tools
« on: 17 May 2023, 21:38:53 »
About five years ago I bought a Hilka cordless strimmer for about £35 from Trago Mills. Bargain thought I! :y

It was a great little tool, but didn't last long and died in the second summer after probably not much more than a couple of hours of light garden use and it got chucked at the back of my garage. I came across it the other day and put it with stuff for the next tip run, but decided to email Hilka before.

Anyway. They've just replied, they think the battery is the problem and are going to send me a new one free of charge!  :y

That's great customer service!  8)

General Discussion Area / Cordless Mowers
« on: 01 May 2023, 19:37:35 »
I fear my trusty Bosch Rotak electric mower is not long for this world and I've been eyeing up cordless mowers for when the time comes to buy a new one.  :)

So... Anyone here got one? Are they any good?   ???   :-\
