I've driven my mates Disco with hand controls and although it's a bit weird at first, you soon get used to them.  :)

I took a starter motor for a Mercedes 1820 truck to Kenya in my hand baggage a few years ago.  ::)

I'm not sure what it weighed but I had to make an effort at check in not to lean with the weight of the thing or wince as the strap dug into my shoulder!  ;D

If its within the EU,c ustoms shouldn't be a problem (in theory at least). Outside  the EU though,it can be in the lap of the gods.
I sent Cem a diff about 2 years ago,and it got as far as customs at Instanbul As far as we know, its still there. They wouldn't allow him to take delivery of it. :'(

unfortunately , our custom rules are larger than encyclopedia britannica and they forbid second hand parts >:(

You needed an OOFer going on holiday to Turkey who would have been willing to pop it in their hand baggage!!!  ;)  ;D

Get your mates round, get pissed and chuck a concrete block in it on the spin cycle!  :)

I've always fancied doing that!  :y
Modern machines won't have it. They continually try to balance the load. I've got pissed off with mine a couple of times and stopped it to redistribute the wifes underwear washing inside.

What makes you think TB's machine is modern?  ::)  ;D

If they're well packed there's no reason why they wouldn't arrive intact anymore than anywhere else.  ;)

General Car Chat / Pedal tricks
« on: 11 September 2013, 22:32:38 »
Whilst perusing the Merc forums to find out how to reset the service indicator on my C250, I came across a 'Pedal trick' that allegedly resets the automatic gearbox's software back to the factory setting.  I've tried it and I can't be sure to be honest, but I think that it might be a little more responsive than it was.  :-\

I know that the Omega gearbox software can be upgraded with Tech2, but I was wondering if there is a similar 'Pedal trick' that can be done?  ???

Get your handyman to give the screen a good rub over with meths which will remove all the tiny rubber deposits that have built up over the years.   :)

After uncovering the chimney breast I found a bricked-up fireplace, which is offset because of another fireplace one floor down. I'm guessing that this was original to the house in 1891.

How many floors you got in that gaff  ;D If its the servants quarters get them to shimmy up the roof and take a gander at whats going on  ;)

Opti Towers has so many floors that it is a well known landmark in the Lincolnshire countryside!!  ;)
