At my wits end!
Bought my 1st omega yesterday
Knowing drivers door wouldn't open 🙈
On the remote central locking all door pins flick up and down.
On the key in the drivers door all do the same.
However the drivers door will not open. Inside or out. I've had a look and both cable from both handles look fine too
Im unsure what to do bar taking an angle grinder
To the door to get to the lock mech..
Any help would be appreciated
Tia

Take the passenger door latch mechanism out and study it carefully. Takes about 20seconds to get the door open once you know what you need to do.  ;)

Sounds like the door card might have to be sacrificed to get access to the mechanism.

Not at all. There's a perfectly good reference mechanism in the front passenger door.

Some welding rod and removing the weather strip from between the window and door is all that's required :-X

Infact, removing the door card won't help.

Have you tried turning the key and pulling the handl at the same time? Both with a reasonably hard dffort but not so hard that you break something...*

*...like snapping the key in half, firing the immobiliser chip into the gravel drive beneath... For example... Ahem.

I'm not going to publically post any detailed information that can be applied to break into any car.

If the OP applies his brain and the passenger lock mechanism, he can figure it out. If he can't he needs to take the car to someone who can.

If that's mock worthy, crack on :D

Quite. Doesn't need me to explain it.

If the OP chooses to cut the door off with a grinder, it will only make the car cheaper when it subsequently gets scrapped.

The good doctor is suggesting you inspect the workings of the passenger door to work out how you can open the drivers door, by sliding a coat hanger / welding rod or similar down between the window and the door - I think.

As above ^^
My interpretation of Dr Gollums post was that if you remove the passenger side door card, you will get a better idea of how the mechanism works, and which part is causing the problem. You can then transfer this knowledge to the stuck drivers door lock and simulate the action with a metal coat hanger or brazing rod bent to shape.
I'm not familiar with the part that is letting you down but maybe someone who does know could PM you with a bit of guidance so that it's not public. There are videos on YouTube showing how to unlock with bent coat hanger/brazing rod but these are mostly for pins that don't pop up, and I believe you said your pin does pop up.  :-\

Xackly ;)

You need to use the passenger one as a reference or you're pissing in the wind.

Oh, and a friendly piece of advice... If you piss into the wind you will get wet.

ok so i think the latch mech itself is knackered

both cables from both handles are operating correctly. and the central locking all works.

ive looked at the passenger side and its covered by plastic so i cant see the workings. i dont want to take it off the passenger side as i dont want to break it!
so question do any other door latches fit the Omega? and are they universal in regards to the door position on the car.
once i have the replacement part i can study that and figure out how to open the damn thing, as the other issue is i have limited visibility with the door card only partially removed.
TIA

They are unique to the door.

The plastic comes out with the mechanism, then you can get a look at it.

Which is why I said to take it out. It is only three torx bolts a couple of rods and a plug to remove. And there is even a guide in the confusingly titled 'Maintenance Guides' section.

Not to sound narky, but it was obvious that the latch mechanism was broken from your first post, hence the advice given.

And, again, you do it from out side the car with the window up. Access is gained by removing the weather strip. Removing the driver's door card won't achieve anything towards getting the doors open. ( the lowest point of access is covered by a riveted plate and meaningful access would mean taking the seat out. And destroying the door card).

have you tried getting someone to hold outside handle in open position and lying across seats and give it a good push with your legs? Some times its a bit of plastic broken and jamming so a good clout will shift it

Doc. Just an idea here. What about removing the door handle.
It looks doable. 2 bolts and a rod to disconnect.
Would that give more scope?

Im sure that carefully reading the advice at the start of the thread, then faffing around for half an hour would have he door open without resorting to angle grinders and replacement doors.  ::)

absolutely.

obviously its his car and we can only advise what to do but if i were him i would be obtaining a s/h catch mechanism and looking at how it releases, which lever to pull etc, before resorting to damaging a door .
thats what i would do anyway.seems a shame to make a hell of a lot more work/ damage than needed for something that may just need a quick pull with a long rod ?.
and are we absolutely sure that the door carch is definately not working. someone could have messed about with the adjustment on the pillar and made it stupidly tight ! it was an unknown  quantity when bought presumably ?

It's not unheard of as a failure. Combination of water ingress, wear and lack of maintenance. A squirt of grease on the mechanisms every six months or so would have prevented it. One of the things that attentive garages do as part of a routine service :-X

A can of spray grease should be on every mechanic's shelf. Brand or type isn't important, but I like the stuff that dries clear.
Use it on door latches(NOT locks!), hinges, cables, pivots, linkages, mounts for gas springs, battery mounting bolts, anywhere that moves or might need to be undone at some point. This is a good thing to do whilst you wait for the new oil to drain into the sump before you check the level :y

after an hour of digging around with a coat hanger this morning i got it open,
the latch mechanism is knackered.
how it opened i dont know. pure luck!
however its open and thats the main thing.
On the circled part below that cam is all lose. and thats what releases the latch when pushed
its back in its correct position in the picture as i put it back. but the part that moves it when the handles were pulled were missing that cam.

yes well done ,we knew you could do it.
thats a lot better than damaging a good door .
hopefully the replacement will be ok. if you are sure the solenoid locked and unlocked fine id be tempted to use yours even if the new catch comes with one .
then ......
no doubt a few other issues on the car to sort as you go around it but once done theyre a cracking car !

The seller says its all in perfect working order.
So fingers crossed.
I've already done a couple little jobs.
Scuttle blocked causing leak in through the pollen filter.
Number plate wires stripped and fuse blown.
Found the housing and the plug in the car. I think it had a flat battery at some point. They couldn't open the drivers door so wired a live off it or attempted it  to get it open lol
Thats also sorted. Appart from rattle from the exhaust on idle and a small blow its spot on tbh

Would it also be the case that Omega,s fetch more on continental Europe, so the price of spare parts would be more expensive also.  ???

I still paid 35 delivered off a UK breaker.
So only a few quid cheaper than the ebay one
