Rapid clicking under dash
« on: 07 June 2021, 09:05:08 »

Moved the explod about the other day and as I'm starting it theres a very rapid clicking from under the dash. It had started doing it shortly before coming onto SORN a few weeks ago but I'd forgotten all about it til now... Likely culprits before I start getting the stethoscope out? :D

A squirrel?  :D

Be a relay, and it will either be one of the ones in the fusebox, or one of the others that isn't...

Not very specific, but neither was the description  ;)

Good point well made. Yes, definitely one of the relays. Or all of them. :D

Like I'm not busy enough....!

 ;D

It could be a voltage thing but you need to identify the culprit first ;)

What was the battery condition, or did you try to  start it on a jump pack? Again, not a particularly specific answer, but my 3.2 does that if it has been parked up and/ or it has had to be jumped because of a low battery voltage. Can't say which relay it affects, but as DG has suggested, a low battery is likely to be the cause. If you can put a known good battery on it, then I think that will cure it. If the existing battery is shot then you will be chasing your tail trying to charge or recondition it if it has been deeply discharged for any period of time.

Try the relays in fusebox.  Particularly the main beam and suspension one (if Elite).  If hot, then at least you have the circuit.

My SLRS relay used to click and then got very, very hot so was removed. I had standard shocks on anyway
