Things aren't much different here below the surface... Most people just want to get on with their lives in their own little worlds. The powers that be are always at loggerheads with the powers that want to be and every so often something bumps into our bubbles.

The less developed a country, the more brutal this becomes. The Taliban are still firmly rooted in the dark ages, and how they treat anyone who stands in their way needs annihilated.

We should probably have levelled the mountains when we had the chance.

The question then arises as to what happens to those Afghans who want no part of the Taliban and their regime? Or the kids orphaned? Etc, etc...

We could bring them all here, but then they would resent the upheaval and we're back to square one, only here not there... Or we could spend loads of time and money over there trying to fix something that's different rather than broken. And have them all resent the interference.

If they want their kingdom at any price, then cut them off from the world they want no part of. But accept that the price for doing so is to throw normal Afghans under the bus.

I accept it’s terrible and feel for the normal poor folk there, but they don’t seem to want to fight for themselves and their country, they had a long time to gear up for the inevitable withdrawal of the forces deployed there. And must have known it was coming?  It seems like it’s just let’s get out as fast as we can instead of let’s fight to keep what we’ve got, but of course there are lots of folk there that were waiting for this not just Taliban, it’s very complicated out there,  and it seems however many deaths, hardships, it’s just not going to change. The Taliban wants Sharia law which even to the most right wing needs a bit of updating👀 we’ve got 600 troops now going in to protect our own. But why the fk didn’t we get the interpreters etc out the same time as we withdrew? Surely someone should have known this was going to go this way? I even thought this and I know fk all about this stuff in comparison to our paid designated, professional, wan£ers. Couple. I’ve not long got home from a good night out so I may have made a mistake or two, I’ll leave it to you all if you think I GAF. 👍👍

That was a month ago. Today they're moving 3,500 troops to Kuwait from the US just in case they need to evacuate the embassy by force

Yes, I know it's Fox News... At the same time he has offered aid in exchange for not blowing up the embassy and everyone in it.
