I don't think it pushed the boundary of what was possible in 1971. ;)

I prefer the All-Aggro.......not that it was much better.
Don't forget the "All new" rebodied incarnations that replaced it... aka the Ital :D

Indeed it was. Most of it was Morris Minor bits carrying way more weight and power than they were designed for. Not really surprising it drove like Bambi on ice.
IIRC fleet managers liked the "simplicity" of the Ford RWD cars over the FWD models that had become BL's mainstay so BL tried to get some of that market by attaching bits of junk together. ;D
