2.0 peugeot hdi injectors
« on: 03 April 2022, 20:11:36 »

Vehicle has started misfiring at tickover but starts first time always. Also has “ smell” of diesel if. I stop. Not too bothered about it as only use 4x4 every day for a couple or three short twenty minute journeys at low speed.

I suspect injectors as it has done 130 k miles. Do I get the garage to fix the faulty injector ( assuming that is the problem and it isn’t water in the fuel)  or replace all four? Pattern or original?

Any thoughts please?

The smell of diesel suggests a leak. Start there :y

definitely look for leak on the fuel lines across the top of the engine.  else are you getting EML light?

You can get hold of peugeot diagnostic at a reasonable cost too to see what's going on with live data and coding of injectors if needed

No eml light. Will have a look for a leak. Never thought of that.

No cannot see any fuel leaks. Could it be an air leak?

If you can smell diesel in the car, then diesel fuel is escaping from somewhere.

I need to clarify the “smell”. It isn’t in the car with windows shut. Here are a couple of places I stop and have engine running with window open. The smell I think , is coming from exhaust.

There is definitely something amiss as it is missing.  Will take it to the garage. They can do the diagnosis.

Ah, so unburnt fuel in the exhaust.  Poor injectors are certainly one possible cause :)

Was it not the Pugs that suffered injector seal issues?
