At least the engines from the Twin cam/RS1600/RS1800 were a bit special. The engine from the RS2000 was a crude agricultural lump taken from the 2 litre Cortina.

Should have kept my MK 1 Mexico bought new in August 1973 got £130 for my 3.3 PB Velox in part exchange, which left a balance of £1039 which cost me £31.40 per month for 36 months, kept it for about 6 years & then traded it for a MK1 3.0 Granada Ghia, they were both great vehicles.

Hate to admit that the Granada went when the first baby came along replaced with an Ital estate, for the pram & first Boxer puppy we bought, in all fairness it wasn't a bad motor .

I think we all look back through rose tinted glassed. I loved my cortina 2.3 ghia, but I'll bet it would drive like a dog compared even to my derv astra.
