Ooops!
« on: 16 December 2023, 22:04:58 »

Had a fella come and look at my V70 this afternoon and when we went for the test drive he tested the brakes as we went down the steep hill I live on.

Loads of water poured out of the gap at the front of the headlining, where it meets the windscreen onto the dash and our knees!  :o

I told him it was condensation as I haven't been using it, but needless to say he didn't buy it!  ::)   ;D

Used to get that on my cavalier, before I fixed the (numerous) water leaks, water would literally pour out the corner of the plastic sunroof winder surround and onto my lap when you went downhill and braked!

Funny thing about selling my Volvo, is that it's a banger. I've advertised it as a banger and been upfront about the faults and what needs to be done. It's too good to scrap and I'm only asking £500 for it.

Both of the fellas who have been to see it have gone through it with a fine tooth comb and picked holes in it as if they are buying a £5000 car.   ::)

I'm quite surprised, as I thought at that price it would go quickly. What can you buy for £500 these days? Even when what needs doing is done, who ever buys it will have a £1200-1500 car for less than a grand.  :-\

I can't remember the last time I saw a car for sale for £500, some folk are just a complete pain in the arse when you're trying to sell a car.

Perhaps you should be asking £3k for it. Let them talk you down to £1,500 :y

I don't like a sunroof.

1....They leak.
2....They rattle squeak and groan.
3.....They take headroom......which is only fine if you are a stunted shortarse.
4.....They add weight in the wrong place.
5......They cost around £1000.

Out of curiosity, what are the issues :-\

Drivers door window only goes down halfway as the door strap broke and mangled the track that the window goes up and down. If you lower the window more than halfway the glass comes out of the track and falls into the door!  ;D  I have a door in the right colour, just never got round to fitting it as I've got used to it.  ::)

The batteries in the alarm siren died and when you lock it with the central locking the alarm goes off, albeit silently as I removed the siren. It's fine when locked with the key. New siren....

It's due a service and the MOT runs out in the beginning of January, other than that it starts and runs well for a 20 year old car with 190,000 miles and is in reasonable condition.

I haven't got the time of inclination to fiddle about with it myself, but if it doesn't go before Xmas I'll at least get it MOT'd.  Might just keep it as a spare, especially if the Mondeo is starting to play up and that proves expensive.  :-\

Plus they never ever get used, I think I opened my cavalier roof thrice in 16 years of having the thing, closed it pretty quickly after I got up to speed due to booming and buffeting (risk of loosing my hair-piece!).

The drains stop them from leaking into the cabin. The 'seals' primary function is to suppress wind noise, weather proofing is a distantly secondary function.
