Ian....you state that you are going to wait a few weeks before putting them on. Is this because they need to harden properly or something...or as you have super wheels on already, is it just a preference thing :)

I am looking to get 8 wheels done, but I will need them to go straight back on :y

Are they painted, or powder coated. I used to run a powder plant, and once coated in epoxy, or polyester and baked, and cooled, they were rock hard. Polyester being the best.
Hi Tony, I'm only waiting to make the most of the reasonable weather with the new ones on  8) - seeing it took me so long to get them on  ::). Not 100% sure what the finish is, they didn't take the tyres off, and only did the front face ( I have no idea if you can powder coat with the tyres still on  :-\). They feel like a pretty tough finish.
I think most places that do them, do a same day service - depending what you're after I suppose, and if you want the whole rim done (some only do the face and wont deal with any scuffs or kerb damage).
I managed to find a discount voucher via Groupon - which hit the spot  :y

Very nice, I just bought a set of those wheels :) Do you have the color code? Does your center caps hold good or are they loosened? what to do with loosened ones?

-Mika
Thanks Muroman, the place that refurbed them just referred to them as 'mid silver' for the rims. I had to do the centre caps as they can't do them, so I used Star Silver and clear lacquer. Tbh - I had tried one of them with standard Halford's Silver Wheel and it didn't look much different either.
The red was supposed to be the brightest Vauxhall one on the stand, but turned out to be a VW one instead.
They've all had a coat of Dodo Juice wheel nano protector stuff (which I've used on my snow flakes and is amazing stuff), so the winter grime should just fall off with a bit of soap and water  :y

Cheers
Ian.

PS Btw - don't use the Dodo stuff on diy clear lacquer - it don't like it  >:( :-[ - I had to do the centre caps again  :'( - doh.

They look very nice. How much to do mine? ::) ::) ::)

::) Hmmm -maybe you've hit on a gap in the market there Shackeng  :P - custom hand finished centre caps  ???.

So, seeing you enjoyed the suspense of the last episode, here we go again.  ::)

Obviously getting near the time for the winter set to go on, and with so much interest and opinion about the 'Snowflakes'  :-X, I thought I'd share the now refurbished set of Elite wheel that came with the car in the first place (thanks Paul :y  ::))

So, fairly standard refurbish. I prepped and repainted the backs of the wheels, getting rid of all the flaky and loose stuff, removing the corrosion and repainting with standard silver.

The rims then went off for a face refurb.

Pretty pleased with that - but what to do with the centre caps?

So thought I'd play with red this time  :-*

And a bit of foil wrap  8)

Pretty pleased with the result:

And back together:

Now to wait a few weeks before putting them all on  :P  :y

Cheers
Ian.

Any time Ken  ;).
It's a fairly old (by current standards anyway), Canon EOS 400D. I must admit the newer ones take my breath away - but with an Omega to run, I can't stretch to a replacement I'm afraid  :'(. I could buy Tony's fleet for the price of just the camera body  :D

Thanks again for a splendid event Tony & Christine, a grand selection of food and beverage as always.  :y :y
I think we'll need a bigger venue if you get any more cars though Tony  ???.

I'd like to echo everyone elses comments too - nice to put faces to names (briefly  :-\)

Anyway - sorry these have taken a while - but hopefully I've managed to capture the spirit - enjoy  8):

Cheers
Ian.

:o - so you've got all the non silver ones Ken  :P. Very nice, quite a mixture of styles there too (not to everyone's taste  ;D). Is that a chrome Irmy grill there per-chance  ::)...
If you're at Wycombe this weekend - lets talk rear tints  ;)

Stunning condition, Wheels are also growing on me  :y

Maybe an Irmscher grill would look good with theses wheels also.
The devil is in the detail, which you missed... Grill is body coloured 8)

Didn't miss the red V and colour coded finns on the grill, I've just grown to like the genuine Irmy chrome grill gives the Omega a fresher front end IMO. Nevertheless a good looking Omega  :y
I've got some spare chrome wrap - might have a play with an ordinary grill in time for next year  :D
Cheers for all the feedback  :y :y

No offence taken at all - seriously life's too short  :y. The ride height - seems to settle when parked,  or on the move. Maybe stopped with the engine running,  the self levelling gets a bit enthusiastic? The photos - I get the same on  my mobile but you need to scroll left or right to see all of it. Fine on my PC though  :-\. Headlights - started with 2400 grit and worked up to 4500 followed by 10 minutes with a DA polisher - spent about 30 minutes on each. Need to do the fog lights next. And yes it's been thoroughly clayed,  corrected, and Swix waxed .

They're on the list Biggriffin if I ever get round to it - I agree  8) :D 8). I was a bit apprehensive about the wheels too until I put them on. They are probably on the limit of being bling - but actually brighten the black just about right IMO.  I'm sure as you say, not everyone's taste  :y. Refurbished standard Elite wheels will go back on once the winter returns though  :) - I like them too  :D
