Are the MIDs 'paired'?
« on: 10 August 2010, 20:43:52 »

I've seen plenty of posts about CIDs being paired (to a specific stereo, I suppose) and therefore to buy an unpaired one so it can be paired with a Tech2 ..

Are MIDs paired? I'm guessing not, since I don't recall anyone mentioning it, but then most people do seem to be talking about later (nicer, grumble  ;D ) cars.. :)

Gotcha :)

I have a brand new-old stock MID sitting in a box to replace my dead-pixel special, so I imagine I'll need a trip to someone with a Tech2 once it's in then. Unless it's only the radio settings that need programming (rather than the general display)? In which case I might just ditch the factory tape player and fit something else (and, thus, no longer need the radio segment of the display)..

If its the right type (your profile implies yellow and black plugs), that just needs Model (Omega), engine and gearbox configs programmed in.

Later MIDs need a bit more configs, but same applies really.

CCRT displays are like later mids (although it is possible to program as a TID variant).

GIDs and CIDs, as well as pairing, need configuring with even more config options than MIDs

I see, thanks!

And you're right - it's a two-plug MID rather than the (later, IIRC) single plug.

In that case, when I finally get my arse into gear and get around to this job, I better get in touch with my nearest Tech2 person :)

Thanks again!

I would recommend Kevin Wood - he knows how to use the tech2 :y
