Quick confirmation on replacing Bose/NCDC2013/GID
« on: 08 November 2010, 19:04:18 »

After reading around and paying attention to the various threads here, can anyone confirm my understanding is correct on this? Since my drivers door speaker now sounds like someone farting through a sock underwater it looks like I need to replace stuff, so I might just replace the lot .. but before I start:

1) The GID will throw a wobbler when the NCDC is removed, and unlike the MID can't be 'tricked' into doing everything sans radio display?
2) I can replace the GID with a MID and add the MID-stalk to control it?
3) When replacing the headunit I'll have to recable for the speakers to bypass the Bose amp and add an interface box if I want the MID (and wheel controls?) to do something useful for the stereo.

That sound about right?

(Failing that I can always go looking for a s/hand drivers door speaker, I'm guessing it's the driver that's given up the ghost)

1) The GID will be unusable
2) Yes - but need to run 2 wires
3) Depends on HU fitted, but if not a Bose one from a Vauxhall, best place to loop-back is the drivers kick panel

Contact a breaker for speakers, one may have a spare bose speaker (many like to sell in sets though)

Strange.. got in this morning and the drivers side speaker is back to normal  :-?

I'd have thought water somewhere, but it was alright yesterday morning and then spent the day parked in a covered, dry carpark.. and the night it fixed itself, outside being rained on.

How odd! Maybe it likes the rain ;D

Might be a loose connection?

I did wonder that - I was going to furgle with the door connector last night, but it was (unsurprisingly :)) pitch black by the time I got home so I didn't get very far - another job for the weekend, I reckon.. :)
