Parrot CK3100 to hands-free pre-wire adaptor cable
« on: 12 February 2012, 15:45:46 »

does anyone know with at least 70% certainty what cable I need the connect my parrot wiring to the prewire (above glovebox connector jobby).

I stupidly bought the parrot branded converter cable which it turns out daisy's in on the back of the head unit where there is no room for all the extra connectors etc..

I remember seeing something on here before where someone listed an autoleads one but I can't find the post again now.

thanks in advance

received the lead in the post all seems obvious enough except ... . .  .   .

Does anyone know what this jobby is?

All I can see down the shrink wrap is a small resister connecting the two green wires which  then both go into a white block, the two pink wires connect into the other end of this white block.

could it be some sort of noise filter i don't need?

Update your profile to show the age/model of your car - it will help when asking for advice.

I'd be very surprised if there is a simple plug in one available. I have successfully installed a CK3100 into a 1998 MFL working it out from first principles. From memory, the connector you refer to contains the folllowing connections:

1) Constant power
2) Ignition switched power
3) Illumination feed (you probably wont need this)
4) Earth
5) Mute line - this needs to be grounded to switch to the ext audio input
6) Ext audio in 1
7) Ext audio in 2
8 & 9 - screened cable to connector near interior light - used for microphone - or run your own cable - hint, neither end of this will be connected

The audio in 1& 2 connections don't run directly into the radio, but via an isolation transformer. This may or may not be fitted - but if it isn't it can be added as the wiring will be there for it. The location is under the steering column with a few other relays. Just to confuse things it is the same size/shape as a relay but white (IIRC).

Just to be really helpful, the Haynes manual contains wiring diags which will help. Dont forget to fit in-line fuses.

Good luck & let us know how you get on.

Cheers - Rob

It is an "impedance matching transformer" or "isolating transformer", it goes between the audio output of the car kit and the audio input to the radio. When I fitted my Nokia CK7W using the SOT-109 kit I tried it with and without and couldn't tell any difference (so I left it out).

Maybe it is required when the kit is used in a Saab?

I did exactly the same, with a 15w

The reason being that the Omega already has one built in as per my post, having two serves no purpose!

Facelifts don't have the audio transformer.  Maybe its built into the HU, or maybe more modern systems can deal with any mismatch better - its not exactly hifi.

Thanks for all your replies
left the jobby in the box and forgot about it!!

All fitted now with help of the the glove-box handle guide, (really did they have to hide a screw behind the air vent!!!)

Actual hands free kit fitting using the SOT-109 adapter lead was a nice easy job though.

thanks guys
