Thanks guys.
Boot floor to rear of spare wheel has rusted through - all patch repairable at initial glance. But, it’s the stuff you don’t see in the images!

Unfortunately, car manufacturers in Brazil no longer sell station wagons like this one.

Thanks Luiz.
I absolutely loved owning and driving this car. They were ahead of their time (in the UK at least) and also understated. Presumably you mostly have US imports in Brazil?

It does present very well indeed, but as you say it's the stuff you can't see that's the killer.Thigs like the sills hidden by the side skirts and the front chassis legs-especially near the subframe mounting points.Of course if you have the equipment and can weld this becomes much less of an issue but if you have to pay someone to do it for you the costs quickly outweigh the value.Good luck with it though :y

Value only comes into it when you want to sell, and at around £500 for the average omega, the value is definitely in keeping them.
I like to put my astra into sites such as WBAC just for shits and giggles. At the moment it's coming back at just over £4K, but I would have trouble getting another car that suits me as much as this one for under £10K.
So value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

Davies, most of the cars launched here are of european, japanese, american and corean origin in that order.

Hi Luiz,
I see. So quite a diverse gathering of vehicles on the streets of Brazil then. Most vehicles in the UK seem to be (not in Particular order) European Fords (although new Mustang is for sale here from some ford dealers), Vauxhall (=Opel or European GM), German, Japanese and more recently Korean. Unfortunately, the major UK manufacturer (called Rover when ceased) closed down a number of years ago.

Hi. Yes - chassis rails look OK at ‘kneel on the floor glance.’ I cannot yet weld, but, have a good friend with a MIG, although his passion is far removed from Omegas so I doubt I could convince him! My wife is also not sold on the idea of an Omega restoration project!
I’ll try to get some other images up over the weekend.

True. You have to like a car to keep it under a tarp on your parents drive for 8 years! I think value is tricky anyway. Even restoring more desirable cars is unlikely to make you a profit. Although, I guess they may hold their value.
I also know what you mean re daily runner - to replace my Golf GTTDI like for like would be a lot!
What Astra do you have? I always liked the BTECs. Tried to get one as first car, but in the end couldn’t find a reasonable one so bought an escort.

Thank you. Just cleaned it prior to the images being taken a couple of weeks ago.
