I think it would look not so out of place in our MV6, seats are a similar shade of grey to the Travel Assistant.....

Interesting idea mate

Is it the same profile of the rear seat base in the Signum as the Omega? It looks quite close but I can't tell if it is exactly the same or slightly out.
Is there any drilling or self-tapping required to fit it into the Omega?

Jim. If you're only securing it with two screws at the floor, wouldn't it fly forwards in a shunt?

The 2 holes that I have to drill in the floor are for 2 bolts which hold a bracket in place which the travel assitant clips onto and connects to the power socket :y
I'II post some pics tomorrow!

Thanks

I have been reading up on this. The TA comes with different bases for either the Vectra C, or Signum. I think (could be wrong) we would need the Signum base. Anyway, mine off ebay came with the Signum base and it's a damn good fit on my rear seat.
I don't know how the rear bit of the base attaches yet but there is a bracket required for the front of the base, which touches the transmission tunnel. From what I have read on another forum, this is part number 93182997 and when I called my dealer it was about £30. The bracket includes the ground and 12v power supply, which the connector on the underside of the base plugs in to.
There might be a way to 'bodge' installing the base but I would rather use the proper bracket.
Hopefully Jim will reply soon and let us know how he installed it, and then I will know whether to order the bracket. My dealer says it is a special order item.

Hi guys,
I'II post some pics at the weekend. as I'm in Italy at the mo 8-)

Basically I'm using the Signum base for the travel assistant and it fits good and I'II be using the Signum bracket and electrical kit and fitting that to the transmisson tunnel for powering up the unit and securing it to the floor.

Anyway, it looks what I wrote was correct so I'll be ordering the kit from my dealer soon. Hopefully I can get it all working at the weekend.

I'll post pics, or maybe even write a how to.

If anyone can make a "how to" for this travel assistant (especially for electrical connexions), it very helps, I'm interested to fit it on my Facelift Omega too, but I need a creme beige one  :P

Found one but a bit expensive I think...

Got the install kit today, but I've decided to fit it to 3.2 and not the 3.0 as it match's the interior colour better, what do you think?

The TA gets attached to the car via the bracket on the transmission tunnel at the front.
But how does the rear of the TA get attached in an Omega?

The TA gets attached to the car via the bracket on the transmission tunnel at the front.
But how does the rear of the TA get attached in an Omega?

Basically it just hooks under the back rest. the clamp at the front does most of the securing. :y Wiring is a piece of pish (as Jim might say) live feed and earth. Me thinks the power to the rear cigarette lighter might be the best place to find a live feed as it is a fused switched live :-\.

If buying s/h TA from Ebay or such like, they were also available for the Vectra, these have a different base, which may not fit quite so snugly. Also Vectra C/ Signum beige is alot more orange than the Omega.

Base plate is just over £200 new, the actual box bit nearer £500, so £100 ish second hand is pretty good value if you want one. Mounting kit is £25-£35 from VX. Be prepared to pay for postage though as they're heavy/bulky.

HTH, Al. :y

Mine it ended up in a Vectra saloon, so I followed the instructions in the kit.

The Vectrum has two studs welded to the top of the tunnel from the factory so the plate bolts down and the cover clips on. Wire runs to the fuse box/rear bcm in the boot.

The rear attachment depends whether the base is a Signum or Vectra one as they differ.

Other than that, as above really ;D

Thankfully I don't have this rear seat 'carbuncle' fitted to my cat.

Should I be strung up by the neck and balls until dead for suggesting that the Signum is a better car than the Omega? :)

Must add, i think it looks out of place too. Still, each to their own.

I saw the one in Jim's car and although it was fitted neatly enough it is quite an imposing piece of equipment. If you eat on the move a lot then it would be useful I suppose. As said, personal choice at the end of the day.
My A6 has an air conditioned glove box but you'd be hard pressed to get more than a couple of cans of drink and a couple of choccy bars in it.  :)

The sigmund was designed for the owner to be driven in, hence the gubbins in the back. I'm surprised more VIP's and royalty didn't opt for one, after all, anyone can have a Daimler or Maybach.

The Signum was designed as a 4 seat vehicle...... so it's reasonable that the centre of the rear (non)bench was taken up with something useful.  There is a third seatbelt and headrest, but nobody other than a smack-head would feel comfortable for any distance sat in the middle.

I really quite like the Signum, and really wish GM did something a little bit special with it.  Sadly, it was just a Vec C with a couple of nice bits added.  I dread to think what the cost of the TA would have been at a dealership when buying new...... the Signum carried a premium price as it was!

A random project I'd consider for a late Vectrum estate is to swap the all the seats with a set of heated leather memory ones from an early Signum.
