well that's codswallop 

I did a comparison and the same company I use was £20 cheaper on a comparison site 
lowest equivalent cover   £70 cheaper (still Defaqto 5 star well known brand) 

so I phoned the original insurer ,said i'd cancel unless they matched the comparison site best price .
they said NO, I said don't renew then ,they said let me just see what we can do .....
OK we'll match it 

so, despite new rules ,insurers still try and get as much as they can 
I guess i shouldn't have expected any better really  .

Well they got £70 less off me than they first asked for ,
 then ,when i did make the lower payment ,they had the nerve to say 'renewal prices will be checked so i get the lowest price in future'

The legislation is plain flawed.  Once again, we are trying to legislate against stupidity/laziness, and that ultimately leaves loopholes.

And the people that the legislation is trying to help will be the ones too stupid/lazy to check, so will assume they are getting the best possible deal - hence the legislation is daft.

How difficult is it to pick up the phone or look on a website, even for a millennial?
