Went for a ride in this today. Not an Omega I know, but a fab car nonetheless.  :y

An AM Lagonda and a Citroen SM, both from the seventies. Not a sight you see every day. :y

I see that the SM is 'L' registered, so 1972/73 then. Stunning car. :y

Indeed. I despise every other Citroen ever made, but one of those would be rather cool. Must have looked like a space ship in the 70's compared to all the dull cars that were around then. 8)

Mind you, doing anything under the bonnet looks like a right PITA. :o

Not all British cars of the seventies were dull, Kevin.

The futuristic Morris Marina was introduced in 1972 and set new standards for handling and road holding. :)

As a nipper, my dad had an L reg Citroen DS Safari, although it was actually an 1970 car, but was bought when we were stationed abroad. That was slightly bonkers, but not like the CX and SM.

Like the GSA (pretty conventional by Citroen standards) he replaced it with, the brakes and suspension ran from the same system...  ...and the suspension was prone to significant leaks. "Interesting" ;D

I do know that, following Dad's attempt in the GSA to "see what it would do", fixing a holed piston was a PITA on that boxer engine ;D

I can't disagree with that. It was heading in the opposite direction to everybody else's new standards, though. ::)

Many moons ago I once drove an Alfasud and a Marina within a few hours of each other.

I have to say that the difference between the two cars was like the difference between night and day.

The Marina  handled like an undistinguished british saloon from the fifties. :( :( :( :( The Alfasud was a dynamic joy. :y

The Citroen DS was 'totally bonkers' when it was announced in 1955.

People thought that aliens had landed. Compare the shape of a DS with a Morris Oxford. :y
