Trying to join ABS
« on: 07 July 2014, 07:45:35 »

Tried to join the forum and had the form sent to me - filled it in and e-mailed back. Chased a couple of times but nothing as yet. How long dosed it normally take? Should I just send money by PP rather than waiting for reply to form?

Steve,
You have to be a member of ABS (user name big part of that) and they have to get you set up their first. This is how I joined.
Once you're on their database as a member, they can email you the details to register with the forum.

You could try memsec@autobahnstormers.org.uk to see if he can shed any light on this for you

.......the ABS club and forum are run separately, which is why you join ABS first and then the forum. Plenty of people just join the club, without ever going onto the forum. The ABS forum is a much quieter place than OOF.......

Fair enough, I am trying to join ABS currently so I can then join the forum.

I will have to just keep e-mailing and see if I can get a reply :-)

Thanks Keith, sounds good.

My problem currently is that I can't seem to actually join ABS to start with!

Keith B - can you nudge the right people to deal with the actual joining of the club for this member, which I think is more important for this member at the moment then joining the ABS forum?

If anyone can give a gentle nudge that would be fantastic.

I've completed, scanned and e-mailed the form to memsec@autobahnstormers.org.uk. I just don't seem to get any response.

Happy to post or do something different if there is a better way  :y

I'm also having a problem renewing.

Paid by paypal last year but just waiting for a response to see if the email address is correct for this year.

Apparently my email address was wrong but I know I updated it when I changed my domain.

Doesn't help that three doors away received the snail mail letter and sat on it for a week as well!

Steve

I joined by post by printing off the form. Replied by post with card in a couple of days. If that helps.

I gave up trying to join the forum years ago. Bloody ridiculous sign up procedure, and a lot of the members there are here anyway.  Don't waste your time. I've had email replies from their admins, they seem as clueless as to how to sign up as anyone else.

Fair enough, I will print it out and bang a copy in the post tonight  :y

Sorted now, received an email from the Member Secretary and paid via paypal.  :y
