So Julian Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy for nearly a year and the Met have been staking the place out all this time!!!  It's a bit like a Carry On film really!!   

However, in February the Met said the bill for the 24 hour guard was almost £3 million, so it's a serious business.    The Ecuadorians want talks with the British government, so they must be fed up with him moping around their embassy and paying for his cornflakes!!  Who will blink first??

He's the Wikileaks chap.  They published loads of secret diplomatic cables mostly from the US Government.  He's wanted in Sweden for alleged sexual offences that his supporters say are a fit up and he'll get extradited on to the US.   

He was arrested here for extradition to Sweden, but last year he took refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy where the Met can't touch him, but they've staked the place out for the last year waiting for him to come out.

Not actually a serious suggestion, merely an example of how it might be possible to extract him. Sending in the SAS would be another equally effective way

It would be funny if he'd escaped months ago without anyone knowing and has been busy sunning himself in Acapulco or somewhere.

The very worse thing you can do to someone like Assange is ignore him. He needs publicity like we need air and he will be praying for his story to make the news again.

The British Government should take the Ecuadorian Embassy staff out for a traditional British Ruby!     That'd gas the bugger out!!!
