That's because the non locals are incapable of correct use of vehicle lights or travelling at over 35 mph and therefore must stay within 50 yards of a sodium lit 30 limit :-X same the world over ::)

Sorry btc, your post kind of got hijacked, for which I apologise..... :)
Seaham and Murton are a bit off my track, and not spend much time their since the Mines closed, I was in very different employment in those days.......... ;)

Neither are bad places, a lot of regeneration over the years, hopefully Philrich or Moggy may see this and be able to offer more local information. As a County, Durham offers a wide range of differing landscapes from sea to dale, and is a beautiful County to live in. The Council is not too bad either, given the times we live in............ :y

Fair dos :y

Architecturally an interesting city, relatively cheap property, nice scenery (if a little bleak) :-\

I'm sure Vamps can direct you to the nicer places around the area :y

If your after a more relaxing quality of life, its hard to beat the north east of England.
In fact anywhere between the north bank of the Humber to the borders is the dogs gonads for me.
Fresh air, great driving roads, cheep property and decent beer are some of the many benefits  :y :y

Just up the road, and not that bad at all. I work for a neighboring authority, and Ferryhill is a piece of pi** by comparison........... :y There are still some cheap properties for sale, but not that cheap, though I do know where houses have been sold for £1.00, not in Durham though...... ;) ;)

What kind of work do you do, or, are you retired? if the latter, you may be better going inland, not cheap but some fabulous villages............... :y :y
