Well, autobahnstormers ought to know, and the Senator 3.0i 24V auto is quoted as 0-60 in 8.8 there.

I timed a very casual 0-60 on my 3.2 MV6 Auto at 8 seconds using a Race technology AP22. No tricks, no manual shifting, just plonk foot down in "D". I suspect it may have faired better if I'd remembered to put it into Sport mode before I set off. Manufacturer's spec is 8.0 seconds.

The two cars weigh very similar amounts, have very similar amounts of power and the same gearbox. To make one go 2 seconds faster than the other would require a very substantial increase in power or decrease in weight.

I think you'll find track days are more aimed at road legal cars. Since they don't generally have a system of scrutineering cars before entry to each event in order to ensure safety of the vehicles they will instead insist that the car is taxed and MOT'ed.

I'm sure you could get away with some lightening of the car, but how far you could go before either the MOT inspector or track day operator called time is probably open to interpretation. If you exposed sharp objects by removing parts of the interior, for example, you might find you've got a problem.

A fag lighter will normally supply at least 10 amps, which is plenty for numerous phones, IPODs, etc. Would probably power a couple of laptops too. If I were you I'd get a 4 into 1 lighter plug adaptor.

How the average chav in a nova gets through every year is beyond me, so that's clearly being applied fairly loosely at the moment.

I'm glad it doesn't say anything about the noise from the induction system because that's by far the loudest part of my Westfield, but it only really barks at high revs and load so it's as good as gold during the MOT  ::) .

As long as someone doesn't start making quiet Lotus 7 replicas so the "level expected from a similar vehicle" remains "'kin loud" I'm happy.  :y

I drove all the way back up through France having burnt all the packing out of my exhaust once. Got some lovely looks from the local villagers. I didn't think it was that loud. Then again, I was wearing a pair of Peltor ear defenders  ;D

Was going to suggest removing the radiator so the camera angle can be a little less acute for some of the shots. Then I remembered the air con condenser.  ::)

Anyone in need of a condenser change anyway?

As someone who's yet to tackle most Omega jobs I'd cetainly be interested in a DVD. That sort of thing would probably sell well on EBAY too, and at very little cost once the initial effort has been made. (especially as there is no book for the facelift and the pre-facelift one appears to have been illustrated using any old engine, not necessarily Vauxhall).

I don't really have a feel for how many "jobs" can be fitted onto a DVD. I think we should prioritise them and see what is likely to fit. Top of the list should be the common problems and maintenance issues that are unique to the Omega like cam belt, breathers, cam cover gaskets, rear brakes. If we've still got space, common mods and routine servicing tasks should go on there too.

Yeah, I'm sure they're OK. It was just an observation, and one made through ClarCE's (broken) bathroom mirror wegded down in front of the crank pulley  ::) The timing marks are only a guide after all and the tool did fit tightly on the crank pulley once the bolt had been screwed down.
