2.7 CRD Auto, Mercedes engine and gearbox.....

Any cambelt changes?
Oil Change timings?
Auto gearbox has, a couple of times stuck in low gear...........cleared itself but why? Oil change recommendations?

Planning on having an oil and filter change and oil change on auto gearbox in a Mercedes specialist garage, not main dealer, do I need a specialist to do this work?

Jeep forum that tends to cover this model with help and support, not quite to OOF standards but was helpful has folded, others tend to be American and specialise in the Petrol models....

Gearbox fluid, no more than 80k, again IMO.

Thanks, that kind of fits with my research, though was told engine oil change was 12.5k but at half than I know I need an oil change...
Garage also supported your gearbox change timing, though they said around 70k they also said that most people ignore this, by having a change I am hoping to avoid potential problems....

Thanks Mark, feeling great now.......   I believe there can be some issues with them, that is why I want to get the oil changed, to try and avoid any problems...........though I understand there is a particular wire that can cause electrical problems.....

Is changing the gearbox oil a specialist job or can my local independent do it? he is pretty good.....

The boys on the Merc forum that I frequent seem to have a few issues with the 7 speeders

No, just 4 speed, or possibly 5?   Only 4 in Manual mode, so guess only 4.......

No, just 4 speed, or possibly 5?   Only 4 in Manual mode, so guess only 4.......

if you have D 4 3 2 1 then its a 5 speed

if you have D 4 3 2 1 then its a 5 speed

I have drive and then can move the gear selector to the right, and have 4321, then Low and High, never used manual or Low yet though.....

You're as bad as SWMBO. She's had her semi-auto Smart for over 2 years now & has never even shown an interest in moving the selector out of auto, and has never even looked at the flappy paddles.

When I had the Citroen I tried the flappy paddles, but why bother, keep it in auto..... With the Jeep, Low gear is Low, so no use on the road and to drive it in manual means using the gear leaver, why bother, that is why I have an auto....

Yep. A third leg connected to the clutch by a couple of satellite links to give that "Smart" semi-instant gear change experience.
