Diesel speak?
« on: 31 October 2011, 23:55:46 »

We have,

Diesel

Turbo Diesel

HDI

CRDT

CDTi

The first couple speak for themselves, but what do the others mean and which are the best, I have had a car with a HDI, was a Citroen, I know the CDTI is good on fuel in the vectra and my currant car is a CRD Turbo, I assume Common Rail Diesel :-\ Any diesel boffins share their knowledge?

AS the OP says, the first two are simple descriptions. The others are "marketing designations", which they are only used by one make. i.e. TDi is VAG and used by VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat etc.
