Climate Control Question
« on: 10 February 2007, 12:42:30 »

How Do Everyone!

Just a likkle question regarding the climate control in my 2.2 CD.
When I first switch the heater on in my car nothing comes out (hot or cold)
for a good 4-5 mins. The temparature is set to 22 degreees.

Does the heat only come out when the required temp. has been reached.

I can't remember but I'm sure my old omega (although it was not climate)
just pumped out the heat hot or cold straight away.

Cheers

Sounds quite normal this weather, I think if you set the temp to something like 16, the fans would come on sooner.

Mines the same, it won't blow cold air at you so waits for it to warm up first. 4 - 5 mins seems about right

sounds like mine. i think its cos the engine isnt quite warm enough to push any heat through. if it blew straight away it would only be blowing cold air. set the auto on 16 and see if anything blows through if it blows through cold air then i think everything is working ok.

Normal, it doesn't start the fans if it needs to heat until the engine starts to warm up...

Many thanks for all your replies,

I thought it was something as simple as the heater engine needed
to warm up first.

If the external air is colder than the internal air then it does not blow until the coolant temp has risen (i.e. engine has heated up a  bit)......

It can be made to blow on the screen staright away if you press the screen defrost button.
