There would be enough change in the budget to get it useable, but it would only ever be a tidy daily driver due to the mileage...

I fancy this .... they're plastic, so no rust problems  ::) ::) ::)

Unfortunately, the steel reinforcing in the bodies does rust. And fixing it means cutting large areas of body away.

The Middlebridge ones have a 2.9, which eliminates most of the engine faults - overheating, stripped timing gears, weak valvetrain etc.

I know it does ... despite being enclosed in GRP

I would be lying if I said that this wasn't tempting...

Especially when you can get a nice one in the correct colour for under £300 ::)

Aftermarket exhaust might be £700 all in. And if it still has the factory cats, they might pay for the car.

Also, I suspect that it's a very early one, so cats might not actually be required.

The wheels are period correct, but pretty horrible. It wouldn't take much to make it presentable, and it might be less of a liability than the V12s that replaced it :D

Apparently 18 left on the road and another 45 sorned... Of which this is presumably 1.

Horses for courses .. I've wanted one ever since they were first launched.
Besides, it's actually a pretty rare beast. Only 233 registered at the peak in 1994 when it became the S600L.

So whilst the W140 might not be the prettiest car ever released, it's still a 408bhp V12 powered piece of automotive history. And it will be cheaper to own than anything Audi ever produced.
