One bit of advice i will give is next time you are working with the plenum or the inlet off get some rag or kitchen roll in them ports, last thing you want is anything dropping down them ;)

Must make sure they are genuine and in a box, non genuine ones are crap, just ask Bo Bo

Although they do work better when the pipes are connected correctly.  ;)

That was the second one ::)

This is the list that Mark gave me for mine

I use this company for the head gaskets (need to speak to them though as you dont want the full kit because every other gasket is crap!):

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-SINTRA-SAAB-9000-3-0-V6-HEAD-GASKET-SET_W0Q...

These head bolts (I have had problems with other non-branded bolts!):

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HEAD-BOLTS-VAUXHALL-OPEL-CALIBRA-V6-OMEGA-V6-VECTRA-V6_W0Q...

These exhaust manifold gaskets:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-V6-EXHAUST-MANIFOLD-GASKET-CALIBRA-VECTRA_W0QQite...

The cam belt kit from buypartsby (sutton auto factors) will do the job (would need to keep the old backing plate but the rest is the same).

I have had good success in re-using the cam seals (dont take them off the cams) but find the non-gen ones leak....

Then for genuine bits you will need:

4 Dowty washers for coolant bridge.
Cam cover gasket set.
coolant transfer pipe O ring.
2 front pipe to manifold gaskets.
Black cam cover sealent
Grey goo(for oil cooler plate)
Green sealent (for front bearing caps)

I also re-seal the oil cooler when the heads are off as a matter of course (coz its easy to do!) so you would also need 4 of the metal washers for the cooler to pipe conenctions.

Then its oil and filter.

You could do with trying to narrow down the water leak, HBV being an obvious starting area and a paperclip test might be a good thing to see if it throws up any fault codes

Omega General Help / Re: Kate's Car
« on: 05 April 2008, 15:07:33 »
Im also willing to help if i can, as Mark says the car needs to be in the Midlands, its just gonna make things easier all round, if need be i can trailer it for the price of fuel? or as already suggested Greenflag it if poss, your welcome to bring it to my unit or Daz's as suggested, could do with being in easy reach of Mark tbh, yes i am in the process of doing the HG's on my MV6 but it is the first time i have done them and Mark is obviously going to be quicker than i am, one drawback is i am not here next weekend 11/13 but i am here the folowing weekend 18/20. If its got to be done before that then your welcome to use the unit next weekend as keys can be left with someone ;) At least your guaranteed not to get wet. If the following weekend is ok and there are a few peeps willing to help then we can get it done in one go.

Yup as Tunnie says, clean the valve and make sure you have no air leaks

The temp runs normal at all times but I have to fill the header tank 2 times a week on average.

I'd be looking for leaks first, HBV possibly?

theres no smell of petrol from the header tank

As Chris just said, they are rare to have HG failure but it does happen as the case of my MV6, but yours isn't sounding like a HG failure, strong smell of fumes from header and dipstick covered in mayo is a giveaway, yours has neither of these, i would investigate further

there is no oil in the header tank or on the dip stick

Can you smell petrol fumes from the header?

225
Mayo on the filler cap is normal, anything in the header tank?
