Omega General Help / Steering wobble and pull to left.
« on: 23 November 2006, 23:52:29 »
Up until recently I've had many months of trouble free motoring, I had the geometry adjusted last month without problems, however since then I have noticed a wobble from the steering wheel when hitting potholes or when driving on uneven roads, the car also wants to pull to the left under braking, anyone have any idea if this is normal behaviour as now the steering wheel since the geometry alterations does seem alot lighter, and if not where is the best place to look for a problem. I'm thinking the pull to the left may be a problem with the brake pads which I'm getting changed when I get time

Cheers....

Omega General Help / Changed shocks
« on: 03 September 2006, 17:47:03 »
Changed the shocks today, after a long wait for the rain to pass...

Well knackered they were....

All working fine, or seems to be, however when reconnecting the hoses from the compressor for the self leveling suspension. How do the orange rubber seals sit inside the connector block that connects onto the suspension strutt. As the shocks work as they should when you hit bumps, but the height doesn't seem to lift that great, the compressor works as when you disconnect the hoses you can hear air escaping from them but, when the hoses are connected to the strutt & you disconnected them there is no whosh of air from the strutt, as I thought you might have heard.

Omega General Help / Self Leveling shock death...RIP
« on: 27 July 2006, 21:33:04 »
Can someone confirm this is a good example of a dead self leveling shock?

I woke up this morning to find a puddle of oil at the rear of the tyre, so I pulled the tyre off and found this. I thought it was only air in the shock or is the oil or fluid from elsewhere?

I've checked all the fluid levels (Oil, Power steering, Brake fluid) and all are ok, I've checked the sills and the brake lines and there is no damage underneath, the diff at the back is clean, so I can only assume this shock has failed and released some form of lubricant.

If it has failed how much are they each to replace and is it a bitch of a job to do and does it require a tech2 to reset the self leveling suspension?

Omega General Help / Help required, but not for me...
« on: 29 July 2006, 14:46:36 »
I know this post don't belong on this forum, but a member on here (v6man54deg(Geffd)) needs help with some vectra ecu codes and as he is on holiday he ain't got access to a computer. The problem is his vectra while on holiday has been flashing out some codes 0550 & 0145 & maybe 0450, do these mean anything to anyone as the only codes I have found are the old 2 digit motronic codes, where as we are after the newer 4 digit motronic codes.

Omega General Help / Oil Leak :(
« on: 24 July 2006, 22:59:08 »
Having had a few problems over the past few weeks with the meega, I thought I had nailed the odd squeak from the suspension, squealing brakes, and the HBV leaking with the help of Geffd and his mate Pete, thanks guys. I've come across yet another problem, the omega seems to be loosing oil in very small amounts, its not that bad I have to keep topping it up, but its bad enough too make a hell of a mess on the road. I've checked the sump/plug and filter housing but it ain't coming from either of these anyone know where the usual place oil could be coming from? when Geoff did the timing belt he did say the rockers were leaking slightly but it wasn't that much of a problem as there was hardly any back pressure from the oil filler cap. The oil is clean and it should be as I only changed it 2000 miles ago, would the rockers go down hill this quickly especially with clean oil and filter in there. I do suspect the rockers leaking from the rear as there is nothing from the front and it does appear to idle erratically, anyone any ideas?
